Chelsea v Villa today 11/12/22

I disagree as I've already stated on the Giroud thread.

He was starting to struggle badly with the pace of the league and was crap against us in the UCL. Yes we totally f**ked up replacing him but that's a different argument.
I would have still kept him as another option. We effectively had no backup striker for Lukaku, and that situation rolled into this season, leading to the desperate decision to sign Auba late in the window. When you consider that the decision was seemingly based on his old connections to a manager that we had already decided to show the door, the signing looks even more desperate. Hopefully we are able to bring in Nkunku in January.

Completely forgot we were playing. Can’t say in surprised to see a 1-0 and yet another long term injury - best wishes to Broja.

I know many players were at WC or injured, but these results are getting old.

Speaking purely for on the pitch (ofcourse on a human level the injuries are horrific) I don't think we'll miss Broja that much if I'm honest but if Trevoh is injured while Forfana will still be rusty then that's a major blow.

And I'm also worried about Silva now, he made it pretty clear the world cup is what was the main motivation of the last couple of years so unless he has a burning desire to win the PL (which he'd get one shot at most at with us far from favourites) i fear he may finally succumb to father time.
I believe we will miss Broja way more than you think. The ONLY striker we have with genuine pace and a physical presence. Personally I thought he was coming along very, very nicely. This is a terrible blow for the kid himself, but also affects us hugely in a position where we are desperately short of quality options.

He was in agony - not sure how it came across on the stream, but in the stadium his screams where very audible and clear. Villa players called over to medics immediately.

Cant see it being a quick one

Hutchinson was good, reminded me a bit of a young Hudson-Odoi. So I'm sure he'll be the next to get a serious injury and that'll be that for his Chelsea career.

If he does will be because his body finally let's him down, nothing mentally. Silva has been one of the best, most dedicated professionals to ever grace our club, I am certain that won't change. Think you are barking up the wrong tree here mate.

I'm not saying he'll do it maliciously, however to be at this level at his age he would have had to have worked a lot harder than the average footballer and made a lot of sacrifices.

If the shot at the world cup was the reason he was so focused to keep up what lets be honest is unprecedented levels for a player his age then it's only natural he (subconsciously) may not have the exact same lazer sharp motivation from now on.

Cool, another defeat before we get started on the season again then.

Given we face a Bournemouth side that barely lost any player to the World Cup we will resume where we left off imo.
