Goalkeepers!!

I started following Chelsea in the early nineties so lived through the years of De Goey, Bosnich, Cudicini, Cech, Courtouis to what we have now. I am hoping that Penders will be better than the current lot.

 
This retro kit is the dogs.

96 went with my girlfriend at the time Whippet, to the vintage clothes market in Abbey Mills, Merton, by the banks of my dear old River Wandle. She picked up a black Umbro referees top, circa Clive the Book Thomas late 70’s. Must have been a small size cause she wore it out raving that night to a place called Imperial Gardens in Camberwell.

That’s right. Her real name was Whippet, and her nickname was Zoe…

Other girlfriends from that period included Puffin, and Tiger Feet from Tooting!

Tooting Chelsea. Garrett Lane. Was told it was London’s longest lane but it’s not. St Gregory’s Church where Mum and Dad got married, and all family christenings occurred. The brasses around Wardley Street. Disco nights at the Old Sargent. Vicars, Tarts, and Lonely Hearts

‘The Cat’ dives full length and saves a penalty from Alan Ball at The Bridge. 7th Sept 1968.

A 1-1 draw, with Peter Osgood equalising for us from the penalty spot in the 80th minute.

It was watched by 42.017 spectators.

wow ..That was my first ever game! My 9th Birthday . I have since then acquired a matchday programme will upload excerpts later.
