I missed the play off final, I was away!

It was one of the worst seasons ever, my last game of the season was the Charlton Athletic game which we drew after taking the lead with a great Kerry goal! That sent us into the pllay-offs.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing because I think that was the kick up the arse that uncle Ken needed to realise he had to spend a few quid to make us a decent side again.

I went to the first game that the Shed was open the next season (Plymouth Argyle) and that was the start of a great season where we went up in real style!

I was in the West Stand for the Charlton game and seem to remember a bit of a punch up in the North Stand

Did anyone see anyone trouble?

I've heard Middlesbrough supposedly brought the biggest firm to London for this - is that true?

See any trouble? It would have been a bit hard not to!

It was a decent firm. I was at Earls Court later when one of their trains came in. Cocky they were, but they deserved to be. I watched the game from that open bit of terracing to the right of the Shed - hundreds had climbed over into there becasue the Shed was so full..

I was there that day I remember it you could tell that some think was going to kick off as soon as you got into the ground.

Also there was loads of problems up at Middlesbrough during the first leg in mid week.

I must amit the first couple of games at home the following were a bit strange with the terrace close for them games agains Oxford & I think it was Man City I went in the West Stand.

Where were the away fans situated for those games? Were there any at all? I recall from my video that when Man City scored (a rather good goal as it happens.....lobbed the keeper from outside the box) you could only hear individual clapping. Sounded rather eerie.

Was in the benches, old Bill really f**ked things up as usual, people could easily have been killed in my opinion because they refused to see people were getting crushed.

First home game was Blackburn I think

Blimey that is a tough one to remember, like most of the posts been drinking since silly o'clock cant remember much about the game. Things that stood out for me, I was in the shed and there was some national front fellas behind me singing throughout the game and I hadn't seen that in years one of them went for a piss, put it this way the shed was packed but a big ring around him soon opened up. The section of the shed nearest the east stand had fans in it and that had been left empty during games for years also no barbed wire in that area and they were the first on the pitch at the final whistle. When it was kicking off outside with the old bill a group of fellas were watching saying come on Chelsea you can do better then this, that's f**k all etc, etc, not sure who there were?

Overall a mad day and yes I was one of the silly dicks who invaded the pitch, being about 19 years old seemed the correct thing to do at the time, made a right mess of my hands climbing over the fence then to have the gate opened near me about 10 seconds later.

Also I remember a black policeman getting a kicking down the front of the shed and his mates piling in to protect him and they knocked some Chelsea lad spark out! Wasn't the mayor of Middlesboro in the west stand seats and he and his crowd moved out in disgust or something like that? I didn't get involved in any fighting on the Fulham road but heard loads of boro fans were getting attacked as they tried to enter the away end, like I said a mad day but the sun was out!

Sorry for the repost wasn't sure which one to put it on?

I was in that bit of the shed as well mate (bit usually closed by the east stand),we were the first on the pitch one of the people i was with just opened the gate at the bottom and off we went, afterwards everyone met on the edgware rd and walked down to paddington only to be stopped getting to boro by the ob

Yeah the steward near us was getting a hard time off the lads close by so he opened the gate, by then i was half way over the fence with a bloody hand from the barbed wire. Cant remember what i done after the game probably just went for a pint! Hope the boro had a tough time getting home, bloody ruined my day!

Was that Clive Allen for City in a midweek game? If it was i think we got destroyed by them 4 or 5 nil. I could be miles off track with this but the Lob from outside the area sparked one of my few remaining neurons to life.

I remember that Boro game was played on a boiling hot day, when I got home I found the front of my house was decorated red and white ( I found out it was Spurs fans that I know).

Was 25, can't remember if I was in the shed or on the benches, but definitely there and was

the lowest I felt after the game as a Chelsea fan.

As mentioned remember the season for John Hollins upsetting everyone and thinking how

different it would have been with a healthy John Neil in charge with Ian Mcneil.

Of course losing Pat Nevin who still today I regard as one of my top 3 Chelsea players

of all time was a bitter pill to swallow.

This has to go down as one of the most tense days in Chelsea's history. I got in The Shed about half one, didnt wanna travel down and be locked out. Even then you could feel the tension and you didnt need "police intelligence" to fathom out that this was a timebomb waiting to go off. I dont think there were any other games that day and there seemed to be lots of Chelsea "mates" around. The feeling at the end of the game was unforgettable, absolutely gutted. I was near the gate where the copper lost the plot and came inside the fence weilding his baton around. Not a clever move when we'd just been relegated.

Someone mentioned the Charlton game just before Boro. I was at that one too and remember the scrapping in the North Stand near The Benches, there was one huge Charlton fan who kept going until he was nicked and then frogmarched by about five coppers right past the Benches and The Shed.

Heartbreaking days sometimes but the memories put that special smile on your face when modern day oppo fans sing "where were you when you were sh!t".

I was at the Charlton game in the benches near the north stand-god what a depressing day

Was down at the game and did not have any stress from boro untill we got back to kingsX

For our train back up north.

Fcuk me how we got off that train at donny still in tact was unreal .

if I remember rightly they had just over half the north stand.
They had it all mate, just about packed too.

As for fans of other teams being there, I noticed one WHam bloke I know in the pitch invasion, and I wouldn't be surprised if fans from all the other London clubs were there as it was the only game on that day and a major tear up was inevitable.
