Im not saying its the be all end all, I said we’d be higher up the table with a few strikers, we still need a good manager. We won the super cup before Lukaku arrived and yes got to two finals but if the striker is the be an and end all how do you explain we lost lost those finals to a team that was playing a winger up front on both occasions? One of which Lukaku played for 85 minutes and did the square root of f**k all.
We also won the UCL (and made top 4) without Lukaku the year before. City won the league without a out and out 9 twice (and now maybe surrending it despite having the best one around to a team that guess what? Don't usually play with an out and out 9), Liverpool won the league and UCL with attacking midfielder Firmino leading the line.
We made 3rd due to runs of form we had when Lukaku was injured (in the autumn) and finally benched (after his 7 touch masterclass vs Palace). Had we persisted with him all season we probably wouldn't have made it.
we did that with basically Kai at CF. Lukaku had a bit part role. Did he contribute? Sometimes but it's not like we were reliant on LukakuWon the super cup, Finished 3rd and made 2 domestic cup finals. Hence why I said we finish in the top 4 with a striker. Youve just proven my point you numpty.
If you cant value or see what a striker brings to the table you are someone who hasnt played the game, not even to a local level.
‘Antonio’ without Costa Chelsea dont get anywhere winning the league in 16-17.
I think this changing managers on quarterly basis is a good thing. Roman never had the balls to do so. Boehly is still learning but soon it is a reality. As a corporate man he knows the world is measured in quarters.Next week is the biggest game of the season. Failing that then we might as well bring in the new manager for early pre-season

Doubt that very much. Aubameyang despite a couple of goals, has looked a completely spent force. His work rate has been non-existent. His hold up play, too, non-existent.Another player that was handled in a shambolic way by Potter in my opinion alongside Datro Fofana and many others. At the start he looked like exactly the kind of striker we needed - someone that could put the ball in the net. With Tuchel at the club I am 100% sure Aubameyang would be our top scorer this season with 20+ goals.
Poor Kante missing Jorginho, he got blown away by an aging Modric. This is how much structure and stability we're lacking. The second goal is probably even worse for the set up and positioning. We are unbelievably bunched and there is acres of space for the Madrid players on the edge of the box

We've got our 9 remaining outfield players essentially covering only 3 or 4 of theirs ....
Thanks Gol. I just want to say, on behalf of everyone here, you always know how to make us laugh.Poor Kante missing Jorginho, he got blown away by an aging Modric. This is how much structure and stability we're lacking.
I was saying about the lack of a good striker while you were crying about Jorginho, now you sound like me so I guess I always get the last laugh anyway. Thanks Gol. I just want to say, on behalf of everyone here, you always know how to make us laugh.
Interesting comparison with Hicks/Gillett. I forgot about them but they were comically bad for Liverpool. I agree that to date we should have similar concerns.Assuming there will be positive signs at some point.
There is a developing symmetry with the disastrous US ownership of Liverpool by Hicks and Gillett just in the calamitous way we seem to lurch from crisis to crisis with Boehly apparently fanning the flames of media mockery rather than diffusing things or just keeping his bloody gob shut. Which is worrying.
Next stage perhaps a major falling out between Boehly and Eghbali as the implications of financial mismanagement take a firmer grip of the club.
I wouldn't exactly name it "a house of cards" but surely changes were needed as the gap between us and City/Liverpool became huge at a certain point. After the CL win I thought there was a sense of momentum which could've turned things around rapidly. Sadly we didn't make any use of it mostly because of disastrous transfer decisions that summer. Still things were looking promising until Boehly & co. decided it was a good idea to change the whole system. Fair play to them, they managed to ruin our club in record time...Personally, I don't quite agree with that. Despite even winning the CL, I feel that we'd been a house of cards for some time. The forced change of ownership is what brought it finally crashing down. But Boehly and Clearlakes ownership could probably have even brought down an underground nuclear bunker made of 6 foot thick reinforced concrete.
And I'm 100% sure a better keeper would have saved it too - Thibaut for instance...The second goal is probably even worse for the set up and positioning. We are unbelievably bunched and there is acres of space for the Madrid players on the edge of the box

Amen to that Val, but for some it is all Potter, the players are only bad because of him, only thing board did wrong was appoint Potter etc etc.Hence why some people were hesitant about sacking Potter. It's never just one reason things are going badly.
Yup, a fair bit of head in sand reactions. Some of those bellends are residing here. Every loss is a step towards a New Jerusalem, donchaknow.
When are you going to stop blaming Potter for the teams failings? Next game? Two games? End of the season? Next year? Five years time? hundred years time? Potter hasn't been anywhere near the club for the last three games, three games in which we have scored NOTHING, yet its not the players its Potter!??another record. The ghost of Potter lives on. Woohoo
I think the transfer bans, the sanctions and the change of owner have an awful lot to do with it.I wouldn't exactly name it "a house of cards" but surely changes were needed as the gap between us and City/Liverpool became huge at a certain point. But will any new managerial appointment be given two seasons, unfortunately I doubt it.watching Man City last night just demonstrates how devoid we are of team spirit .. this is going to take two seasons to sort, at least
I'm wondering why we can't do that? I'm hoping its because the board want to ponder the next move VERY carefully, ideally though we need the new man to have as much 'pressure off' time as possible, the new man will not face 'pressure' for the remainder of this god forsaken season, the pressure WILL however get ramped up a few games into next season when we are not in the top 4!! We HAVE to give the new man a chance!Next week is the biggest game of the season. Failing that then we might as well bring in the new manager for early pre-season
