West Ham v Chelsea (PL) Sat 11th Feb 2023 12:30 GMT

He seemed really risk averse, like he knows he's not in good form and so wanted the ball as far away from him as possible so he was less likely to make a mistake.
I might be way off the mark of course, but I also felt like he was really tucked in close to Badiashile for their goal, almost like he didn't want to go out and close Coufal down for fear of being beaten.

Maybe I'm reading too much into that though
He doesn't even jump to try and get a head on it. Even if he fails to make contact he probably still blocks off Bowens view for the Flick on.

Also neither Arsenal nor Pool were top 4 teams when they arrived. Our squad is significantly better than the ones Klopp amd Arteta had at their disposal, yet Potter is still doing worse.
We were NOT in the top 4 when he took over, and even IF we had a 'top 4' squad he has still yet to get it on the pitch.

We were 6 games in... and we had made the top 4 every year since the second Conte season.

And yes he had bad luck with injuries but his record so far is just abysmal.

You need a season, Guardiola needed a season, Klopp needed a season, Arteta needed a season, the greatest manager of all time Alex Ferguson needed a season!  Ferguson was one game away from the sack in 1990:-

I remember people United supporters screaming for his head at the time!  I wonder how they felt about him 27 years later?
Alex Ferguson won the Champions League with Aberdeen beating then Real Madrid before joining United.

We on the other hand sack a CL winning manager to get someone who coaches Brighton to midtable and Ostersunds to Europa League.

Potter doesn't even belong in the same conversation as Alex Ferguson achievement-wise

I really don't understand this insistence with Arteta as if he's a good manager. The man is basically on the same level as Potter, he just lucked out in 1 transfer window and 1 cup win. Give me a break.

I can also give you a different example, Conte won the league in his first season, so did Carlo and so did Jose. Why is it that you used other team's managers when our teams have had managers that didn't need preseasons or an 11 entirely suited to them to win the league or other titles?

It was actually the Cup Winners Cup that they won, not ol' Big Ears, but they did back that up by winning the UEFA Super Cup the next season, beating the European Cup winners Hamburg 2-0.

Terrific achievement all the same - Doug Rougvie, who subsequently moved to us (1984-87), played in both matches.

Iirc wasn't the Cup Winners Cup the equivalent of the CL at that time?

No CWC was the second tear competition compared to the Champions league/European cup. Its where the domestic cup competitions winners went to, hence the name. The league winners went into the CL/European cup.

Jorginho is still in our own top 3 when it comes down to progressive passes, despite not even being our player anymore. Can't blame him forever for things that he didn't do.
Anyone seen his stats since he joined the Arse ??? 😉
