met vic donkin who came to some of our matches .....first time was away at sunderland i think...said he was born there or had affiliation with the area.....long black hair..quite charismatic...
I saw him once with the coloured guy known as Brixton. Never knew if Brixton was Spurs or Chelsea?. I thought Vic Donkin looked like an Apache with his long dark hair!.

Interestingly i remember a 'News of the World' article in 1973 about football 'faces' and their stories. There were a dozen or so guys quoted, with a small photo of them included. Vic Donkin was one of them, and i remember this because he said his 18th birthday was when we drew 2-2 at the Lane in the 72  2nd Leg League Cup semi Final and it ruined his day!!!!!

Quite weird that although he was well known at Spurs, he also travelled with us. You could'nt imagine DH, SS or BG doing the same thing with another London team, unless someone knows different........?

Hold my hands up Peckham Blue, i got my stations mixed up!
I've finally been able to identify where the photo Rumpole posted (Post No.38 in Hickeys Coaches) was taken.  The flats, which now have roofs, in the background are where that pub you mentioned (The Olive Branch) is and this melee is a couple of hundred yards away from the ground.  The wall on the right with the skinhead sitting on isn't there any more.

The sleepless nights I've had trying to get to the bottom of it.  Are you in the picture?

Also remember in that game in 78, when one of our lot in the corner of the Park lane threw that bottle with ferocity into their geezers in the corner of the Paddock. Someone must have been scarred for life. No doubt if the bottle did'nt break one of them would have taken it back to the Off Licence to get the 5p back!.

You've just reminded me of that, it was right in front of where I was.  Didn't he come over the hoardings holding his head?

Me and a mate who couldn't keep quiet got in The Shelf that day.

I remember the bottle being thrown, also the free crisps being slung back on the pitch, to the tune of

"We don't want your f**king sh*t"!

That's something I've read about  (and sung about years before it happened, "Those were the days my friend, we took the Stretford End.......") in Martin King's book, the first time I was aware of it.  Anyone else there or got anything to add, it must have been a great sight from the Scoreboard End and similar to the Holte End in flight.
heard it happened at a  game up there in late sixties.....Eccles and the others went in Stretford End When the gates opened near end of game and the whole end scattered.
