Achraf Hakimi

I would imagine that since both he and Haaland are not involved at the euros the club will be pushing on both these particular deals if we really are interested.

In both clubs cases if we are super serious and slap down big money neither can afford to say no.

I don't know, Havertz out wide and drifiting inside didn't suit him at all last season.
He's not out wide in this formation the wingback provide the width. He's more an attack mid or second striker, since Mount will drop into the midfield.

Complete and utter waste of James`s talents having him as a CB.
I think a lot of people are under the assumption this will be the only position James would ever play again for us. We are trying to build a world class squad with depth in all positions.

James is not a big drop off in quality whether he plays RCB replacing Azpil in the starting XI or if he plays RWB instead of Hakimi. If Hakimi plays RWB and Reece at RCB we have two athletic players able to cover on defense and push forward like how Cesar used to before he started to lose his legs a bit.

To clarify this is only one of many possible variations are team could play. Hakimi offers more attacking threat and so having him as well as Reece on at the same time just provides more attacking scope, yet allows for Reece to still showcase his brilliant defensive abilities since that's what he is primarily a defender.

In a back 2 I would agree but outside CB in a back 3 is a totally different ball game, you almost have to be a hybrid CB and RB and that would especially be true if Hakimi (or CHO) is the the wingback infront of him. How many times has Azpi gone forward and made key contributions in that role? (And that was with Moses who is worse defensively than Hakimi).

The main sell point of a wingback formation is to create the kind of overloads that simply aren't possible (without seriously compromising your structure) in a standard back four, two attacking fullbacks down one side is one of them.
Exactly, even during the early Morata years, Azpi was delivering crosses from deep.

Reece's best attacking quality is his crossing but at WB he doesn't have as much opportunity because he sometimes gets caught in two minds whether to bomb or maintain the line. At RCB he gets the space to deliver the ball without worrying too much.

As it stands, we have huge amounts of games anyway plus the world cup in 17 months. If we want a title challenge, we need the quality backup anyway

Some sources say personal contract is already signed & we made a 70 million pounds offer but it's not accepted yet by Inter Milan.

But I hope this is a 'fake news'. 70 million pounds is too much for a wingback IMHO. Also we have our own home grown talent in Reece James.

Yeah lots of reports saying “proposed personal terms” have been agreed. Basically we’ve spoken with him but we haven’t agreed with a deal with Inter yet.

Even if we factored out the fact they will likely be utilised in different positions we have an obscene amount of games next year on top of what will be after the Euro's over a year of non stop football for most of our squad.

There will be a lot of games to go round for everyone barring our 3rd choice keeper.

How it usually works it seems. We probably have things agreed with Haaland and his leech of an agent already too.

PSG looks to be in a more advanced position for Hakimi than us, Inter already know their replacement but apparently they are waiting for PSG to pay them 70-80m.

They want to sell Hakmi for 80m and buy Kostic for 25m.

I don't think 70 mil is too much for a world class attacking wingback, with an insane speed, that can cover both sides. Reece James can also play RCB. We don't have to use Emerson and Alonso when we are resting Chilwell, they can be sold to bring the 70mil down to 40-50mil.

While R.James and Chilwell are good all round wingbacks, it makes sense to have a specialist attacking option that provides 15-20 goals/assists each season compared to James (3) and Chilwells (8) this season.

We won't get Haaland unless we manage to sell most or all of our sellable players

What are his numbers contributions though? He takes a lot of corners/indirect freekicks and his overall numbers read 1G/4A in 56 PL games. Reece is a dynamic player, but that doesn´t automatically make him a good attacking player. One of the reasons Chelseas struggle to break down deep-sitting teams is the lack of attacking thread from the wings. I think Tuchel views Reece/Hakimi as perfect complementary player. You can play them together in a 3-4-2-1 or it´s simply match-up dependent whether you need a shutdown defender (Reece) or an attacking menace (Hakimi) against a  specific opponent.
Offensive number is not just a/g, in reece case it is more on how many crosses he will attempt/game.

Our name could be being used by Inter to get PSG to offer more.

Funny how Inter can use 25mill to bid for Kostic but can only afford to loan Emerson lol.

For me Hakimi signing is pretty straightforward, if Tuchel want to keep back 5,Hakimi is a good signing because we don't have any rwb.

If you want to sugarcoat this signing, you can say that we can start the process of moving on from alonso and Emerson because Hakimi has good left foot.

In term of Reece. You can see Reece potential as monster rcb or rb but not monster rwb, staying wide and  beat his man is simply not his game. He prefer to stay narrow and cross which is more of rcb/rb game.

Last but not the least, I am pretty sure we won't pay 70m for Hakimi.

Does Hakimi mean the end of Dave and CHO? And what do we do for LB? Emerson may go as part of the Hakimi deal which leaves us with Alonso as Chillwell's back up...

RWB : Hakimi, Reece James, Azpilicueta

RCB : Reece James, Azpilicueta, Christensen

LWB: Chilwell, Hakimi, Alonso

CB: Silva, Christensen

LCB: Rudiger, Zouma

I would be happy with this, maybe we sell Zouma and replace him with someone new. Last season we played 58 games, so we will see plenty of versatile players like Dave. CHO should go on loan for a year.
