Adam Wharton

After watching his first two games this season, I can understand why there are reservations about him from some. On the ball, incredible, some of the passes he plays are the best around......but what else can he do? It looks like the only thing he can actually do is pass the ball. He's not a good runner, doesn't contribute with goals, nothing from set pieces, no strength, no power. The one that concerns me most is off the ball. He doesn't even try to do the defensive work, he never puts in a tackle or busts a gut to track back. He will allow opposition players to get by him too easily. You can't have that in midfield at the top level.

You know how we say that Enzo is invisible unless he is box crashing? Well to be fair, the same can be said about Wharton outside of his forward passing.

Watch the last 3 goals yesterday he just jogs back and allows cherki and Foden to run off him. He’s always been a light weight. For me the silky passing doesn’t make up for the fact he’d be a liability that makes Enzo look like prime Kante. Think that’s why Scott is the main target.

Yep, it's a serious issue. You can't have that in midfield, especially these days. He would be a luxury player, and I don't think you can be successful in football today having those types of players. They need to have more to their game.

In contrast just seen Scott sprint back to tackle a player at the edge of the box stoping a dangerous counter, plus he’s just scored which isnt exactly what he’s about but more icing on the cake if he can add goals.

 
Alex Scott scored for Bournemouth. His goal celebration was to mime a phone call and put the phone down. Make if it what you will.

 
I really like him as a personality. Hopefully we go get him next summer.

Or line up a deal for January perhaps...

If he's Alonso's main midfield target to possibly replace Enzo then maybe it's worth coming to a gentleman's agreemnet with Bournemouth.

The main reason Bouremouth ain't selling is because it's so late in the window and that's because of Man City trying to screw us over.
