Even if the obligation is easy, it can't really be enforced. UEFA has already ruled that if the obligations are too easy, it will be considered a 'swap' deal with the Rogers transfer.

If they are more complex, then Villa can always bench him and decline to play him. FIFA have consistently ruled in favour of the rights of clubs that avoid their obligation to buy.

 
You keep forgetting they refused to play Harvey Elliott because they didn’t think he was worth £35m. Wouldn’t trust that lot.

Yup.. crafty bastards will keep him on the bench all season, and destroy any little value he has. Writing was on the wall once they started 18yr old Hemmings ahead of him in the Super Cup.

If I were the club I would pull him tonight and send him to a Coventry where he will get starts.

Villa have stopped playing him at all, quite obviously - and predictably - doing their Harvey Elliott routine to get out of buying him. He'll be back next season

I have a theory about this, actually.

I think they stopped playing him because they realised he is a terrible, terrible footballer.

 
can't be good if he doesn't get off the bench in the League Cup against Coventry. definitely a risk he's back with us in a year.

 
Yep, defo seems like another Harvey Elliott situation. A game where Villa made wholesale changes and he did not even come off the bench. I am sure Emery will soon run of out of excuses. If he can not get game time against Coventry in a completely changed team, there is not much hope.
