Good result for England (too bad Gerrard had do have a part in it).

For me it's time to drown my sorrows (with water) as Sweden lost against Northern Ireland. We took the lead but they scored twice and won 2-1. Healy scorded both goals. That man is incredible. He had 2 chances and scored on both.

Ibrahimovic were back for Sweden but didn't do much.

Moos Sweden just didnt really look that interested for long periods tonite.Perhaps they were a little too confident and didnt expect NI to go at them as much as they did.Sanchez went for it from kickoff.He seems to have brought a little luck into the team,which is always needed at this level.Cant deny Healy,he is the man,thought Zlatan was ab. sh*te.He seems to be miles away.Any thoughts Moos?

Zlatan wasn't sh*te. He was sh*te gone rotten. Some fancy footwork from him but most of the time he lost the ball.

Sweden wasn't good. We didn't fight hard enough while NI fought for over 90 minutes. They gave 150% from the start and Sweden wasn't prepared for it, which is strange because even I who hasn't seen NI play knew that they were going to do it.

But I'm a bit surprised over how some players in Sweden played. Isaksson fumbled the ball a few times and miss timed some actions. Mellberg and Hansson as centre halves has been great lately but today they look mediocre. They ran into eachother once so that Healy could score the equalizer. No communication at all.

Ljungberg was nowhere to be seen during the first half and was just slightly better in the 2nd. He held on to the ball a bit too much also.

Wilhelmsson came on to give us some attacking force but 20 minutes later I wasn't sure if we had actually done the change or not. He was invisible.

The only 2 players who I can give some credit after this game is Elmander who ran all the time and scored our only goal and Daniel Andersson who played in the Makelele role instead of Linderoth who was injured. He was really good.

It's quite funny really. Before this game the majority of the swedes (seems like it anyway) have said this:

1. Zlatan is our best player and he has to play.

2. Play Wilhelmsson instead of Alexandersson. "Alex" sucks and is old.

3. Why play that amateur Andersson? He sucks!

4. Anders Svensson is fat and sucks. K?llstr?m is the best!

The game against NI showed us this:

1. Zlatan sucked. He does not have to play at all.

2. Wilhelmsson was nowhere to be seen. Alexandersson was okay and worked hard both on the offence and the defence.

3. Andersson was one of our best players.

4. Svensson communicated alot and played alright. He went off probably because his team hasn't started its season yet so he hasn't played alot of games lately.

funny thing about gerrard was that before his goal he was having a stinker, he even got nutmegged by one of their players as well as producing that shocking dive for a pen...but after his goal his game did improve and worryingly it will cover up the cracks for the rest of his performance...people will say that england are better with gerrard in the middle and no lamps, when I was thinking a lamps getting in the box was just what england needed in the first half...gerrard was dropping way too deep for the attacking midfield role, he was behind hargreaves a lot of the time and as usual his passing was dire...the fans at the stadium had short memories as they were jeering him when he had a free kick on the left of the area and hit it straight out for a goal kick...it seems that lamps was dropped by mcclaren after all, well if i was frank i'd say stuff england and fire chelsea to more trophies...best way to silence the critics

If it were me in charge a fully fit Beckham would walk into that England team no problem at all. Based on the form shown to date since McLaren took over and dropped Beckham there is not a single midfielder in that squad who Beckham would not have done more than.

Considering how vastly over-rated Beckham is, that just goes to show how f*ckin' awful England's midfield is currently. Alright, I'm not an England supporter, but I think bringing Beckham back would make the problem even worse.

It's bad enough having a w*nker like Rooney having no control or discipline, without adding Beckham to the equation. He totally loses it if he gets tackled, just can't handle it, and so goes chasing after the bloke who had the temerity to beat him in a challenge and blatantly fouls him. He always does this. He also lacks any positional discipline - if he's supposed to be playing on the right, he takes it upon himself to wander all over the place, f*cking up his team's shape and tactics in the process.

Much in the same way that Gerrard did against Israel

You got to be joking Loz? Once Joe is back on the left and Lennon can play regularly in his preferred right position that HAS to be the way forward. I can't understand all this bring back Beckham bollox. Do people have such short memories? He was crap for England for well over the last year, what makes people think he'll make everything come right again - hogging all the set pieces (his only real contribution) not to mention the media circus.

Bringing back golden bollox would be a serious step backwards.

 
I have a funny feeling Loz was using that comment to emphasize how poor England have been of late.

Kind of like saying, "...a monkey could do that job better than you!"

On a different note, i thought our subs looked very lively, and could be the only plus point.

Dyer should have started, and Defoe must surely get the nod over AJ now.

 
Apart from the fact that England were less than average, 2 points stood out for me (watching sky sports) firstly GOD, DO THEY LOVE GERRARD, it was sickening listening to the second half.

and second point.

That team needs Joe Cole to ever be a threat going forward.

Will Wayne Rooney ever learn to grow up? Probably not.

Those part time w**kers were on the wind up from the offset, and as much as you hoped that it would'nt work, it did! Andorra FFS!

Wayne Rooney had to be subbed on 60 minutes to prevent him from taking an early bath.

I had a very strange night of TV footbal last night. I switched on BBC2 for Match of the Day LIVE (That's how it was billed in my local paper) and they were showing an Italy training game against some pub team. It was all very entertaining, but not what I would have expected from either the BBC or the Italian training set up.

Then I stayed up very very late to watch Match of the Day (Not LIVE) on BBC1, and bugger me if they didn't have two more pub teams playing.

It was all extremely dire (and then to cap it all some Te$co shelf stacker called Dire came on and did nothing) except for a little bit of a small fat scouse man getting angry, and some other scouse man diving in the penalty area. After the match, and after the "lads" had packed up the goalposts and gone off down the pub, Gary "Slip it in from three yards" Lineker and Alan "That was shocking" Hansen both started a mutual masturbation session over something called Gerard Stevens VC, MBO, OBE and bar, claiming that he had now been proven to be the true saviour of English football (and probably everything else).

I promise you all that I had partaken of NO DRUGS (unless 4 or 5 glasses of Te$co's finest Red Wine in a box counts) but I was in an altered reality that has left me more than a tad shaken.

More wine required I think

I thought Scotland did OK, but they were always second best to the gel-boys. Whenever we put together a decent move, or made a threat on their goal, the Italians stepped it up a gear - they weren't playing at anywhere near their best, but they were a class above Scotland last night

Luca Toni played well against Weir & McManus, but I lost count of the amount of times he dived. He's clearly been taking lessons from Ronaldo & Deco, yet he's 6ft 4in and built like a brick sh*thouse

All in all, not a terrible result - after all, the greasy ones are the World Champions!

Oh, and I'd certainly back Scotland to beat England, were they to play in the near future

BB - I'll give you that the "Weeyins" (is that a word?) ran about a lot, but they never looked either like a team or like threatening anything.

Sadly, I think that the home-game factor has put them up near the top of what is admittedly a strong group, but they are flattering to deceive.

I agree that they will beat Engerland though (unless the newly deified Steve Me is allowed to play exactly where he wants for as long as he wants and McLaren doesn't expect him to play for the first hour)
