RIP

[web]http://msn.foxsports.com/soccer/story/7163680[/web]

OMG.....I was watching the game when it happened, I thought he'd been hit by something in the crowd because it was off the ball.

RIP - terrible for his family!

It's really sad when these things happen but it also makes me angry. A normal healthy young man don't just get an heart attack.

So he must have had something wrong with his heart. And if that's the case why didn't anyone find out about it?

I thought that players were tested for heart problems nowadays?

I think that most players are tested in Sweden, even the young ones.

Since so many deaths has happened in the last few years every player should be tested so that we can prevent things like this happening.

R.I.P.

This is so sad.

I understand that his girlfriend is in the late months of pregnancy which makes it even more tragic.

A terrible terrible thing to happen. RIP and our thoughts go out to those close to him.

Moos, unfortunately you're wrong. Sometimes things happen to people that we medically still don't understand. He would have been checked to ensure that his heart was strong and healthy yet this still happened. No point in being angry just be sorry for anyone that is ever affect by such a tragedy.

Rest in peace. Good player. It was horrible to see this happen on TV, especially when one Sevilla player tried to prevent Puerta from swallowing his tongue.

Sad day for football.

Truely tragic news

out of all the stories of people dying recently (morbid I know, the only way to sum it up for me though) this has shocked me the most. 22 and a heart attack... he must have been getting regular check ups by Seville like I'm sure most footballers do for their club. See them on heart monitors all the time

Wishes go to his family.

sadly Moos you are wrong, my brother in law died from a heart defect and heart attack at 36. The nurse in the family room that night told my sister and me that young men between 20 and 35 have a high incidence of unexplained heart attacks.

very sad nonetheless.

My sister was also pregnant (with the 4th) when this happened 13 years ago.

As I understand it, Puerta had fainted a few times in the past and had several examinations to determine the cause just this past summer - nothing showed up. Maybe it was something that has to have a number of influences before it manifested itself - stress, humidity, heat, dehydration - I don't know. Very, very sad when this sort of thing happens to a seemingly healthy sportsman - lets just hope the guy from Leicester is ok.

Its a shocker.

Recently made his international debut. Sevilla boy, playing for hometown club, baby on the way.

Its just so crappy.

Shocked , incredibly sad and difficult to believe somebody so young could pass away with a great future ahead.

A Dublin GAA footballer also died last Sunday evening , not sure of the details but a terrible week for sport.

Just hope the Leicester player recovers .

Devastating .

It's quite wierd really. My mother called me last night and I told her that the player had died (didn't use his name because she will forget it anyway

). She then said that these things seemed to happen in periods. When one dies, more dies around the same time. I didn't think so much of it but when I then went on the internet I saw the news about that Leicester-player. He's not dead but still, it was quite a coincidence.

Anyway. Is there any truth in what my mother said? Does the heart-related deaths all happen at once? It kinda feels as if it's true, though it probably isnt.

And while we're still on the subject I just wondered how many players in England who are tested for heart problems? Is it just the professionals or does every player in a team have to be tested?

Cycling is a sport that, for the last few years especially, has seen some sudden deaths from athletes. The sport has a bad reputation for performance-enhancing drugs, and the deaths were inevitably linked to drug abuse.

Of course I don't want to insinuate something

, not knowing anything about the circumstances, but drug abuse can't be ruled out as a cause of death for young, fit sports men and women, among them football players.

Very sad news!

Tragedy for football world!!

Great player with great expectations.....very sad.
