I was working on the basis that watching at home on a decent sound system with a big screen was infinitely more enjoyable than packing in to a theatre with sticky carpets and horrible oiks on their mobiles munching popcorn and rustling sweet wrappers. :)
fully agree mate. add into that you can sit with a nice cold beer/wine too and can pause it if you need the loo. also, theres nothing worse than having some horrible fat sod stinking of BO sit next to you in the cinema. ive not been to the cinema in ages, totally prefer my home cinema set up.

does the same apply for pubs.

Now you've got me committing the sin of ENVY!! I hate sitting in the cinema with people chattering and giggling during the film, the pervasive sickly sweet smell of popcorn mingling with the disgusting "aromatic" stuff they must spray the place with. I'd rather wait till a film comes out on DVD. I'd LOVE to have a home cinema!

Well, when he says "Home Cinema" he means a 14" black and white portable telly, a betamax tape player and the sound bodged into a 1950's radiogram.

he's still got the sticky carpet and people with BO next to him though :) ::MooNeY:: :)

Not if I'm by his side, he hasn't!

amongst other things :)

I remember limberness and excellent barrowing skills being mentioned

chastising cheeky wee buggers is another of my skills :)

where's the bending over the desk emoticon when you need it?

i guess that depends on what cinema you go to and what film you go to see!

luckily my local cinema has a 'gold ticket' section, where you sit in luxury chairs and have waitress service. costs a few bob more but its well worth it, just to keep away from the grebos and chavs!

other than that im in full agreement. i can see us not being too far off a major downturn of cinema culture. soon you will be able to stream new films direct through your broadband onto your hdtv , surround sound set up.

i already do it with new released dvds (rentals stores are soon going to be a thing of the past)

WoW! A gold ticket man! I'm impressed!

Seriously though, what's a GREBO? YB is helping me to get into the 20th century, but he's never mentioned this one.
