Brasil vs England

I know I am getting old but has the Brazilian teams of the last couple of years lost their edge, so like watching them years ago in the 70's/80's when the Samba drums are banging and the team is playing with tempo, now they just look like an ordinary side.....perhaps too much European influence now most of their team play for European teams...anyone else have any thoughts?

Did we dodge a bullet not signing Hulk?

Still think that in a couple of years that Neymar will be doing special things. He'll learn a lot at Barca and will improve dramatically. He's got it for sure.

Lucky deflection but the intent was clearly there.

Rodwell. 10 mins football all season at City and another England cap. No wonder we struggle at times.

I agree. It's like the kid at School, the popular ones always get picked over the others. It's basically like this, play for Chelsea, City, United, Arsenal or Liverpool and you will get picked for England.

I am probably going to be in the monirity.. of about 1.. but I think England have been okay over these two games. Two draws is no disgrace, could have done better but a lot of positives, such as two great goals today, Lampard once again proving he is light years ahead of Gerrard and a few youngsters proving they are capable.

I will caveat that with, this is proabably to worst Brazil side I have seen, they have the players still but to many big names need to get them jeling big Phil..

I agree with some of what you said there Andy, personally the England team plays with the personality of its manager, cautiously and does not want to get beat, rather boring stuff especially the first half certainly an improvement in the second.  As for Brazil, certainly not looking like the Brazil teams of old and not playing with the same tempo, a young team granted but I really can't see big Phil being there at the main event next year..IMO and although a year away I can only see them getting out of the group stage and not much beyond that, but a year is a long time in football.

England were poor in my opinion, they played some dreadful stuff for most of the game and parked the bus.

What I found hilarious was us trying to cling on for a draw in a friendly. That's what I respected about Sven, he gave people a chance in a friendly instead of the same old players getting churned  out.

But with the squad we've got, Hodgson is doing a good job. We have virtually 0 technical players, so a pragmatic approach is needed. Really we should have rebuilt after the 2010 WC, but our team is pretty much the same.

Phil's decision to take Oscar off was Rafaesque, although I'm grateful he got a bit of rest.
