Brentford vs Chelsea (PL) Friday 18th September 20:00 GMT

Only if you're okay with him see off the season with Chelsea and only left after the season end. If you want it gone ASAP then it's a contradiction. You can't have it both way.
Maresca should have ignored City's advances until the summer and then negotiated a move to City in the Summer with fair compensation. Instead he sh*t the bed, went public trying to blame the board to force a sacking, plummeted our results, packed his bag and left us with LR after he didn't get his way. Bloke is the most unlikeable, despicable c**t in football and you're an idiot if you still like him.

Not really, even if I didn't want him, the decent thing is to go about with the correct procedure. Talk to the Club and try to negotiate an agreement; if this is not immediate, wait until the summer to make your move. That would be the honest way of doing things. The way he went makes him a c**t. On the subject of me not wanting him, I disliked his football brand but I didn't want him gone unless a suitable substitute became available or in the summer. As it went, he derailed our season and forced us to get Rosenior, who was absolutely lost here in the PL and probably was his worst time as a coach. Maresca f**ked us over but also Rosenior and City (compensation for going behind our backs).

Way, way, to early to "Big Up" Pepilini. He has got the most expensive squad in football at his disposal. No major injury worries. And apart from the Manc derby against an average United side, hasn't really faced any tough opponents yet.

I agree with a @Term_X who said it looks harder to fail than it does to succeed with that squad. And I also agree with @Sconnie Blue who said that despite having maximum points, they haven't looked unbeatable and have had a good slice of luck in all those games.

Give him time and a few injuries and he will f**k it up.
Last time I said a team was too lucky and it wouldn't be sustainable was Arsenal last year, and they sh*tehoused their way to a league title and Champions League final.

I'm staying silent.

Finally the penny drops. There were people who wanted him gone ASAP so they, by right, should not care about the way how it went because that's the only way to get their wish ASAP. Obviously, you make it clear now you don't belong into that group. However, you have to take into account that he could have stunk the place ala jose/conte to force the club into sacking him and thus paying dismissal compensation instead.

As for derailing our season, i think the blame is misplaced. It's definitely on the board for not replacing properly. Rosenior was not forced, it was a choice (albeit stupid one), there were other options. Based on the trajectory of maresca's last 10 games or so with Chelsea then it was already looking grim anyway. Maybe he's afraid city might have a change of heart if he finishes the season badly with Chelsea.

Both things can be true. Maresca is a snake for the way that it originated, it's clear that he was in direct contact with City for some time and rather than rebuffing their advances until the summer he chose to maintain his contact during the season, while actively competing against City. He might even have left with a modicum of respect had he done this after the season was over.

But BlueCo are not without fault. They knew and they let Maresca maintain his contact because it suited them, until it didn't. Maresca was a convenient retrospective scapegoat for the way the season ended, and many fans seem to have forgotten just how poor we were from November onwards and that in truth the results belied the performances all season. Their persistence with Maresca, choice of Rosenior and of course their terrible transfers all made a bad situation worse. That all changed when City wanted to announce him and have him start the summer early.

Chelsea's allegations were never tested nor findings made. But we had City over a barrel because regardless of the truth, due process was on our side. The threat of a months-long tribunal fight, even if City won, would have set back their pre-season plans possibly irreparably because they had gone all-in on Maresca, it's not as if they could just switch to someone else. It made more legal and football sense for them to pay compensation and agree to some hashed out PR than risk a tribunal fight.

The difference between me and you lot is that you're all down for him to keep continuing until the end of the season while I wanted him replaced as soon as the result went downhill to save the season. I didn't see other alternative for his immediate removal.

As for the bold part, I think it's exaggerating, city could have backed out from maresca and appoint someone else to focus on the team and let their legal team handle the tapping out case, even to the point of paying Chelsea if necessary. This one is small case compared to their 115 charges case which strangely holds no bearing to their day to day operation.

Not really, the difference is that you're OK with him sneaking off to City while we are not ok with it. It's the way that he did it that pisses most of us. We wanted him gone and if it had been done properly and up front, maybe the club would have had time to get a suitable replacement.

Not sure why you're including me or anyone else you've responded to in "you lot" as the three of us are pretty well documented as wanting Maresca gone from before the CWC. I certainly still stand by the belief that there was no way Maresca matches the same run of results that Rosenior achieved from January to March. It all collapsed after PSG, granted.

This isn't really an accurate picture of what happened. The relevant rules allow for immediate sporting sanctions, which means that had Chelsea actually filed a complaint, Maresca would have been banned from football, and City subjected to a transfer ban, until such time that they cleared their name. Given the timing, this would have seriously interrupted Man City's work for Guardiola's transition whether they decided to proceed with Maresca or appoint someone else last minute.

The fact that Chelsea didn't actually file a complaint, despite the club's PR suggesting we could have done so since at least October, tells me the evidence to actually prove inducement wasn't that great. Our best legal play was to pressure City and Maresca into settlement compensation.

This is very different from the 115 charges, which are administrative and where sanctions cannot be imposed until the club is found in breach.

Are you not included in 'the lot' when you suggested maresca should have rebuffed their advance until the end of the season? Doesn't that align with you being okay for him to keep continuing? I don't get why you can go from wanting him gone before CWC to suggest him to rebuff city advance to have another full season with Chelsea?

So what's the doom and gloom for city? I don't think it will ever get to that, city could easily pay off Chelsea to drop the case altogether. Like you said, instead of wasting time and money for the legal teams, city could just pay off that 17mils to get the case never enter the picture. That amount of money is not nearly enough to lock them down on just maresca. If 115 charges case is not much of a distraction for them then certainly this weak tapping out case won't be a distraction at all to ruin their pre-season. It's not something for them to worry about when 'small' payoff would see the case never exist to begin with.

What's not really about? you're not ok with maresca sneaking off but at the same time you're okay with him to continue until the end of the season even after you claimed you couldn't stand his boring tactic and thinking he was holding the team back? The logical way is to get him off ASAP if you never rate him but then again you 'didn't want him gone unless someone suitable coming in which makes it inconsistent on what you want and think of him.

Btw, the club knew about maresca contact with city so your last statement is inaccurate and getting rosenior as replacement was entirely their fault, maresca played no part of it. They could have appointed alonso sooner.
