Just gives me another reason to dislike him.

The basic facts Jamie are that you are not in contention to be England's first choice centre half because JT, Rio and Woodgate are all comfortably better than you are and King is probably on a par with you!

Given this, and the fact that Campbell, has been around for a long time and was also a better player, you should be damn grateful to have won 34 caps keep your toys firmly in the pram, and try and take your chance when, and more importantly IF, it comes along.

Never mind, you still have your dignity intact don't you.

[Enrico]

Why don't you pick me? I don't wanna play with you anymore!

it doesnt read to me like he is throwing his toys, just saying f**k it, if i'm not gonna get a game, why bother with the whole bo**ocks of it. Carra has stated before "f**k it, its only england".

i dont see the problem, if there are better players no-one should care. Liverpool fans will be happy that he'll stay fit and not have any burn out.

[loz]

Then why winge about it to the press, why not just announce your returement form the game and state you want to concentrate on domestic football. This is a player who has won 34 caps, a hell of a lot more than most players manage yet he still feels the need to have a whinge about being hard done by in terms of selection.

Playing for your country is supposed to be an honour, not something that you bleat about not achieving. Liverpool fans wouldn't need to worry about burn out anyway, just burn marks on his arse from fidgeting on the bench game after game.

[Barn]

Any player that can at that age claim to be retiring from international football is in my opinion a complete tosser. If you're not prepared to represent your country as and when you're called upon to do so then you should never be given the chance again. He should be ashamed of himself for this type of behaviour, the spoilt little sh*te. I say detach effing liverpool from the rest of the country and we'll all be better of without it.

'kin jumped up sh*t.

[midlandblue]

I'm sure he will be missed.

not sure by who though.

that's the point- players who view it as "only" england, shouldn't bother in the first place.

For me, representing your country is not about what suits you, it's about what suits your country

that's what stuart pearce said recently about david bentley.

[dkw]

good news. at least the rest of the players wont have to check there belongings after training.

It strikes me as being rather arrogant for a player to assume he deserves a place in the England squad, and to then strop about it when they don't get in

Carragher is a good defender, nothing more. He has has little or no technical/passing ability. He is a solid Prem CB, but it's not enough at international level.

He will not be missed.

sounds to me like you've just described JT. England is not the be all and end all you know. If Liverpool win the championship in the next 5 years then Carra will have won every club honour except for the world club championships. In that time England will still have won f**k all since 66, so i'm sur he'll be gutted. f**k england and the muppets that go alonf with them.

[Lofty]

Dear Christ, not another bloody thread with RedRob defending the indefensible. Look at this bleedin' article:

His struggles for his country are in contrast to his exploits for Liverpool.

What "exploits" exactly are we talking about? Crap. Complete and utter scousish bleedin' drivel.

He is a regular under Reds manager Rafael Benitez and his form and whole-hearted commitment are seen as one of the prime reasons for the club's 2005 Champions League triumph

So what? That fat boy plays him regularly means he deserves a regular England place? For God's sakes, where do they find these journalists? No don't answer that, I only wish they'd bugger off back to whatever swamp they emerged from.

And from the Scouse git himself:

The reason I'm delaying a final decision is because I didn't want people to think I have a bad attitude or I'm turning my back on the country at a bad time

But why not, it's true? Oh sorry I forgot. We're talking about a Scouser here, and truth has a somewhat different meaning in Scouseland.

and there we have another reason why liverpool fans are detested. jt`s passing ablility is excellent, seeing as though he was a forward and midfielder in the youth team. hes looked well out of his depth whenever hes played for england, isnt good enough and were well rid of him.

[RedRobMol]

jt`s passing ablility is excellent

that must be why you all think Lampard is incredible if you think john terry's passing ability is excellent. He either plays it short or hoofs it upfield, much like Carragher. Carragher debuted at a midfielder, and played both full back positions well for years before becomming a centre half, so if thats your argument for Terry, does it apply to Carragher too?

too simple?

[dkw]

exactly how many chelsea games did you watch last season? like any good defender, he hoofs it when it needs hoofing. but he or carvallho can begin attacks with some nice passing. carragher panicks when on the ball and hoofs it. different thing altogether mate.

your not English are you.

terry actually joined the club at 14 as a deep lying midfielder, and switched to defence after a growth spurt.

terry's distribution last season was poor by his standards... but I don't think there has been a better distributor from the back with left and right foot since lebouef (fernando hierro at bolton aside) in the premiership.

the lack of credit JT's technique gets is something that really bothers me- as far as sheer range of passing to feet goes, I'd say perhaps only ballack is better at chelsea.

[bjd]

Terry is a far superior player to Carragher.

You also get the impression he is proud to play for England and would never , ever throw his toys out of the pram in the manner Carragher has.

[Alan]

'We're not English, We're Scouse' was a banner in the Kop at the CL Semi in May

i wasnt trying to criticise JT, he is a gret defender.
