Got to say I was dismayed to see this 'tackle'. Makes the one I did on a scouse fan totally insigificant

Hmmm... Essiens tackle is the only one they won't show.And to be honest I've seen loads of worse tackles than Essiens. His might have been reckless but far from the worst tackle.

When will they stop?

Roman wants us to be a club that people like. If he wants that then he'll probably need to give like £500m to charity or something.

Another player with a few awful tackles to his name and who always seems to get away with it - Xabi Alonso. There was the lunge at Mikel's groin in the CL, or the one on Anichebe in the Merseyside derby, which was just as bad as Essien's.

 
Aren't we getting just a little precious when some reporter posts an article about worst tackles and the list includes some favourites and football legends (using the word legend loosely) but we all whinge because one of our teams players is listed as one of the 5?.

Maybe if Chelsea players were listed 2 or 3 times then you might argue we are being victimised somehow, but I think we are all getting a little precious here.

 
Stunned Souness against Steau Bucherest isnt there. that was awful. He was playing for Rangers at the time and it was in the European Cup.

He even had the audacity to moan to the ref that he was hurt too aftwerwards!

Must be a video of it out there somewhere.

Doesn't anybody remember Chopper Harris, Dave Webb, Eddie McCreadie, Micky Droy, Joey Jones, Doug Rougvie, Graham Roberts or Vinnie Jones? Any of whom would have gone in two-footed studs-up against their own grandmother if she looked like going past them!

A bad challenge is a bad challenge, but there are some that stand out for their premeditated viciousness. I saw Chopper, Webb, Droy, Rougvie and Joey kick people up in the air week in week out but - maybe because we don't have the same muliti-angle slow-mo replays - I didn't see them stick their studs in shin high.

The Daily Mail's could have included 50 tackles worse than Essien's - they couldn't even find a photo or any footage that showed it to be in the same bracket of the others. They could have mentioned Saunders' career ending challenge on Elliott but chose not to.

I'm not justifying it, just pointing out that there have been plenty of Chelsea players down the years who have made tackles just as bad. F*ck, Chopper could have a DVD all of his own - love the guy, though.

Must be honest, I find if very difficult to sympathise with Septic players no matter what the circumstances. Same goes for players from Spuds, Leeds, Liverpool, Manure, Arse, Aberdeen and France.
