Chelsea book £342 million loss for 24/25 financial year

Capitalism. Vulture capitalism. BlueCo will be fine. When Blueco sell they will make money on their investment. They won't be selling for a while yet. Personally i do not give a flying fcuck about BlueCo. Alas, the golden age of English football is over. All the clubs have been bought up by foreigners (you can thank BreXit for that).
I’m pretty sure all the clubs were owned by foreigners before brexit too

I wonder if Simon Jordan still thinks of Eghbali as "one of the most capable and compelling individuals he has encountered in football" ... 🤡
If Simon Jordan tries to defend him, somebody should shove this in front of his face

Does this take the CWC money into account? Because if it does, then it's even more disastrous.

United almost got relegated yet signed two of the best attackers in the league last summer.

We're a big club that will always attract interest. The issue is our sporting directors failing to secure any top player without Eghbali having to get involved (which it doesn't look like he does anymore).
Utd can pay the big wages we can’t though

“Sources at Chelsea say a number of factors have caused an unfavourable outlook in Uefa's latest report.

They say they remain profitable on an operating basis, believe they will comply with Uefa's rules, and deny they will have to sell star players to fulfil any regulatory requirements.”

Sure they are profitable on an operating basis as they can value any player at whatever price they want. The reality is because they have spent recklessly, UEFA only count play player sales from registered players.

Chelsea finances: How English football's biggest-ever ann...Chelsea recorded a pre-tax loss of £355m for 2024-25 - the highest loss ever made by an English football club - according to financial figures released by Uefa. How did it happen?
Yes it does.

The only area in which Chelsea performed impressively in comparison to their rivals was broadcast revenue, with participation and victory in the Fifa Club World Cup boosting income to £192m

What I found crazy in the BBC article was

They were the sixth-highest spenders on wages in Europe, paying their players £388m - £43m more than they did the previous year.

Only Liverpool, whose spend was increased by bonuses paid to players for winning the Premier League, and Manchester City were higher in England.

How is that even possible with them touting their low wages. Player agents must be laughing all the way to the bank.

Chelsea have signed many of their players to long-term contracts in order to ensure their value is 'amortised' - spread out over a longer period of time to reduce the yearly cost in the club accounts.

The report states "English clubs' amortisation costs are impacting profitability", meaning the amount ending up on the cost sheet at the end of each year - from what are effectively deferred transfer payments - is adding to their losses.

Seems trying to game the system with long contracts has backfired. Our annual amortisation has blown past £200m+ annually which becomes a big problem under the new Squad Cost Ratio rules which kicks in next season. This caps spending on wages & transfers (amortisation) at 85% of revenue, 70% for CL clubs. Last season we hit 90% and go hit with a £80m fine + four year “settlement arrangement” and the 1 in 1 out transfer rule.

One thing missing from the UEFA report is it doesn’t not factor in our interest costs at the holding company, 22 Holdco;

- Interest cost Ares subordinated debt £65m

- Interest cost BOA/JPM senior debt £60m

- Strasbourg losses £69m

- CFCW losses £unknown

I don't think it's counted as the CWC was won after the end of the 2024/25 financial year.

Either way, it's very concerning seeing how BlueCo running the club into the ground.

@markpitts

How much are Gittens, Garnacho and Hato on? I heard it reported at greater than 100k each, a lot more than the had at their previous clubs.

We've capped the maximum wages we will pay 1 player, but are bringing in many and paying them this off amount.

On A side note, if we start looking to sell or best players because of financial issues, id be surprised if buying clubs don't take advantage of our position.

"Oh we know you are in bother Chelsea. Nevermind that 100mill you asked for just Cole Palmer. We will give ou 85mill for him and Cucurella, take it or leave it"

This pretty well confirms what most of has feared about the clowns running the club. Just like Enron they thought that they were the smartest guys in the room. Made demeaning remarks about the way the club was previously run etc. But the reality is they are just a bunch of clueless rich kids driving the club off a cliff into massive debt.

Yeah fiscal year was July 1st 2024 - June 30th 2025.

My previous comparisons to an Ozark style money laundering operation were made as a mixture of gallows humour and genuine frustration.

Looking from the outside as we appear to lurch from one crisis to the next, showing those initial mission statements and promises to be a complete fabrication I am actually starting to wonder if there is anything more sinister going on here.

This level of ineptitude and incompetence is starting to look like some sort of intentional screen.

Of the £1.165billion in loans, £755.2m is repayable by July 2027

Just a little heads up so everybody knows when sh*t will hit the fan.

And there's another £410 million delayed payment loan that accrues at 12 percent annually which will cost us £900 million when it needs to be redeemed in August 2033.

As far as i'm concerned its merely a question of time before the house of cards fall.

Our genius owners and directors are well on their way to completely destroying the club.

It would have been somehow understandable if we were successful on the pitch, but nope, the team is still sh*t.

Well done, lads!

Pennies when you consider we pay Neto £200k a week and Fofana £250k a week.

They won't, even most of the ones that backed them on here quietly disappeared. Evissy spent pretty much all of last season defending them, but we haven't seen him for months now.
To be fair to them, Eivissy and Terraloon, they felt attacked on here and said so numerous times. It's no wonder that they have moved on. I'd be interested in knowing their opinion on the numbers released, if only because they gave us the PR spin coming from the board and it is the only way we've got to know what the clowns upstairs think.

They gave as good as they got

We are completely done now

I fully expect Enzo palmer and Caicedo to be sold This is what some of us feared. The owners are systematically ruining this club bit by bit. If there were not hated before they will be soon

Let's not forget the ground issue as a parcel of buying this club, I thought a while ago they would sell out to a foreign billionaire. It might still happen.
