We don't have any other CBs; Tosin, Badiashile, and Disasi are gone. Alonso also mentioned that Colwill will be managed carefully.

Caicedo needs match sharpness, hence why I included him. (Essugo is also likely gone, too. Henderson isn't fit.)

Lacroix is a machine. He's going to be the staple of our defence.

 
Would like to see penders in goal for this and hope he does well and starts in the league

I wouldn't be putting Caicedo, James et al anywhere near the starting eleven. Keep those boys fresh for the Prem.

 
I'd like to see Penders get a game here, but I guess it's a bit of a no win for him. I imagine that if we put out a decent side we win comfortably and he has absolutely nothing to do. Or we field some weird makeshift eleven and it goes to pot and he gets exposed by an unfamiliar and chaotic defence that could leave him looking a plonker.

Lol, honestly I don't get your logic here. No football club can base selection decisions like this.

As a pro footballer he will be used to pressure, and really this is one of the least pressured games he could ever play.

The logic is that if he plays and the game is as comfortable as everyone expects, it does nothing to push a case for him taking Sanchez's place.

As a pro footballer he will be used to pressure, and really this is one of the least pressured games he could ever play.

As long as he doesn't make errors directly leading to a goal it proves he's in better form than Sanchez.

If that's not good enough for you then what is? Which exact scenario are you waiting for?
