David Luiz back at Chelsea

You were quite adamant on a couple of occasions none of it was speculation, and objected to my remarking everyrhing was speculation. But hey, changing your opinion aka seeing sense is allowed, it's progress even  ?
It’s my speculation that you chat a load of old bollox...since none of us work for Chelsea all we can do on a fan forum is speculate on anything that hasn’t already transpired, it’s the purpose of a forum.

Never miss a chance to shut someone down with your same old story, stop speculating, oh you have inside info do you...he was turfed out of training and is being sold to a desperate club at 1/3 of his value...wtf is to speculate it’s quite obvious isn’t it?

You telling people off for having an opinion is bloody boring you need to get a new act luv.

So has he actually gone ?

15 minutes past the transfer deadline and no announcement ...
He was seen going into Arsenal's training base a while ago, imagine they;'ve submitted the paperwork and are doing the pictures and videos.

By forcing this move, Luiz has tainted his legacy for me. Forcing a move to a rival team 1 day before the window closes, when we have a transfer ban is a dick move in my opinion. I'm equally as annoyed with the club for giving him what he wants. We have gained nothing from this move. £8m gets you nowhere in todays market. We have weakened our own squad and helped a direct rival strengthen their squad.  I would honestly rather Luiz rot in the reserves than sell him to them for pretty much nothing.
Did the board inform you when exactly David Luiz asked for a transfer? Do you know for a fact he forced the issue? And how do you know the fee is £8 million, might there not be add-ons? How would letting him rot in the reserves help anybody? FFS Scott, you''re smarter than this hysterical BS based on no factual knowledge whatsoever.

I read somewhere that he makes right around 12 million per year in wages, so we are saving that money as well.  Helps dull the sting of a 8 million fee.
I can't see him being on £230k a week. He may be on half that over a 2 year period.

There are lots of things I will miss about Luiz but defending isn’t  one of them.

Focus in the fact that other than wages nett  he hasn’t cost a £1 in transfer fees and selling a player who quite possibly has been told that he didn’t feature in the managers plans or at least as a starter was never going to be well received by the player.

The average age of our squad has dropped like a stone. This season is all about promoting academy players, change and long term planning and the major part of that has to be all about moving players who are likely to block youngsters progress add to that Saris style of play isn’t how Frank seems is going to set us up and then it’s essay to see why he is on his way.

I won’t boo him, I never boo at football he has moved on and so must we.

@Scott Harris that’s you told mate, let’s all sit here in silence and listen to Valerie talk about what players arses look best in the new shorts or who we should bring on the coaching staff based on their shagability, it’s why we all signed up isn’t it?

Come on big Val entertain us since we aren’t allowed to talk about the most controversial thing happening on deadline day with our 3 time European cup winner fuxking off to North London for a “speculated” cut price free after it’s “speculated” our new manager (nice little arse btw) booted him out of training for being a diva.

Im just going to shut my gob as I suggest we all do and wait for your insight, because you clearly know more about football that the rest of us.

This move will put Side Show Bob in the William Gallas category. Moments of brilliance with moments of failure.
Unfair on Gallas, he was only ever excellent for us wherever he played across the back line.

People rave about the JT/Carvalho pairing but the best I have seen for us was JT/Gallas.

Conte was onto something in that second season.

Me thinks Luiz tries to exerts a little too much influence at times.

There’s been a vocal leader in the team and then there’s being a vocally disruptive presence.

Word was Luiz openly questioned Conte’s team selection and tactics following the away match to Roma in the Champions League a couple of years back and then he was “injured” the whole season.

I just wonder if he spoke out of turn to his former teammate, now manager?
I think lack of leadership within the ranks is a big part of the problem. Ten years ago, if JT was out, there was Lamps, then there were Ballack, Cech, Cole, Drogba, etc. There were so many big characters with leadership abilities in that team, even with the managerial merry-go-round the team remained competitive and tough to beat year after year. Losing someone like Luiz, even under difficult circumstances, wouldn't have been that big a blow.

Nowadays we have a bunch of kids we hope will become the future stars of the club and a group of experienced players who have little connection to the club. Azpilicueta and possibly Rudiger may have some of that fire, but they are no match to the leaders we had back in the golden years.

agree to disagree - Ricci was miles above Gallas & then you compare the sides they went to after leaving Chelsea. One went to le arse while the other went to Sunny Spain to run w/ Real Madrid.

I've lost the like button so I will agree in text. Gallas was JT's best partner. He was excellent. I loved watching him chase defenders down. He was the quickest CD I can remember. He could catch Henry and that took some doing.

there's a mixed bag of very naive posters on this thread and a few sussed individuals-

So pray tell, the club has just decided to let a valuable asset & experienced player leave on the last day of the window for a knock down fee to a direct rival with no possibility of replacing him because the manager merely told him he wouldn't be first choice, leaving the cover for CB in  a rather precarious  position until Rudy is match ready.

Or perhaps the player has had heated words with the manager and behaved badly within the group, so like any good manager should do, FL has let the player (and in turn the squad) know that he is the gaffer. In turn and as it should be the club is backing FL, and thus the last minute cut rate transfer to a top 4 & London rival.

We shall never get the truth, it will be spun. So can either pretend Luiz is great for doing this as its justified by wanting game time or see it for what it is a self centered move that lets the side down.

I'm going with the most likely scenario, and that for me is that Luiz wants out and it's something that has happened very recently. I can't imagine that Chelsea or Lampard would choose to get rid of Luiz in our current situation if the player wasn't the one pushing for this move. Yes, I can't be 100% sure that it's a fact, but I'm confident enough in my belief that it's Luiz pushing for this given the situation we are currently in.

As for me saying let him rot in the reserves, I am saying I would rather do that than sell him to Arsenal and for such a tiny amount of money, not that I would actaully let him rot in the reserves, it's more me saying I would never sell him to Arsenal.

Gallas was a class centre back. Solid at left back when played there as well. He was better than Carvalho when the latter arrived but Carvalho grew and improved while at Chelsea whereas Gallas was moved on.

There is a difference between Luiz pushing this - which just means he wants away, without us knowing when he asked the club for a transfer - and the assumption of many people he demanded a new club to the point of holding the board ransome 1 day before the transfer deadline. People are filling in the blanks and then throw hissy fits over their own imagined scenarios.

And no, I don't like him going to Arsenal, but I'm not blaming him for his choice (we don't even know how many options he had in the first place), and I'm not losing any sleep over it either.

Why would he sign a 2 year extension then put in a request shortly after? He is pushing now because he wasn’t going to get started, he also wouldn’t have been played vs Barcelona etc if he had put in an early transfer.

What you’re saying is counter to every logic that people have used to understand what’s going on, Scott’s scenario is how everyone including “in the know” journos have read into it , no one would assume what you’ve said because it makes no sense in context of the events and timeline.

We have a young an influential squad.  I would have liked him to stay and use his experience and (stated) love of Chelsea to help mentor some of the younger players.  If there was any thought that his attitude might poison the younger players or undermine the manager, I can see where we might want to get him out.  He could have stayed and fought for his place realizing that players get hurt, or young players might experience a dip in form.  But he chose to bail out at the first sign of things not going his way.

I don't see the logic in selling him to a club that will rival us for a top 4 spot.  They are weak defensively, so we sell them a defender.  I don't get it, but then again, I haven't understood the previous times when we sold players to rivals...….
