Sky Sports are reporting that Newcastle are about to sign Edmilson form Barcelona (even though he will probably not kick a ball in anger for up to 6 months) but also that they have enquired about Guddy (better there than Man Utd)

Also I liked the fact that Big Sam has moaned about players having release clauses in their contracts which means he would be powerless to prevent Owen and Martins leaving - he didn't seem too fussed about the one in Barton's contract!

i'll be devastated if guddy leaves for a sh*tty club like newcastle. and i don't believe it. they've bought viduka and have martins, owen and shola ameobi.

But both OWen and Martins have release clauses in their contracts and if anyone comes in for them Newcaste will be powerless to prevent them moving (should they want to). personally I think Martins should stay put as Newcastle are about his level however Owen, if he can stay fit, is better than Newcastle.

Agreed.

Though I hope he doesn't, I think Owen should go to the Arse. He's a proven goal scorer at every level and would be a great replacement for Henry. Plus, I think he's still only 27 or something, so has many good years ahead of him (if he can remain injury free).

I think the Toon are buying well and Gudi would do well there. He is not wanted at Barca, I do NOT want him at Man Ure...so why not?

Frankly i have no probs with the Toon, and there fans have generally been a laugh on away trips...although it is hard to tell as we all get put at the top of a tree at the other end of the city...or so it seems!

If toons can get Guddy and Edmilson (and perhaps another player they really need) and they can stay clear of injuries then I think they can become a dangerous team next season.

The league might become very interesting 07/08

Yeah, I'd be happy to see Guddy at Newcastle. He'd get a lot of game time there. And him and the dukester could make a potent combination. Certainly don't want to see him going to Manure or L'fool or Arse. Though the latter might be an option for him, taking up the Bergkamp role in the team playing off the guy they buy to take Henry's place.

The thing is, Viduka and Gudjohnsen are similar players in away. Neither are consistently prolific, but both have a touch of magic at times.

Only Newcastle could sign a 30 year who has yet to recover fully from an operation.
