Does any stand out.

A few obvious ones such as The Green Mile and All Dogs Go To Heaven for me.

The reason for this thread was a movie called 'A Walk To Remember'. Had no idea what it was and it hit far too close to home and caught me out of nowhere.

Anyone else been caught out unsuspectingly?

Here's a few:

Requiem for a Dream

Untouchable

Tyrannosaur

Grave of the Fireflies

Watched Gran Torino for the first time recently. Outstanding movie.

I got Nootbook'd once by an ex. Didn't like it though.

Pursuit of Happyness

Forrest Gump

Blood Diamond

Hotel Rwanda

Brokeback Mountain

Just a few I can think of, will post more later.

The Magdalene Sisters

Kes

Invictus.

The Magdalene Sisters left me stunned and emotionally drained. I can't say that about many films. The ending in particular is very sad. After I watched it I had to watch a comedy to cheer myself up.

Mississippi burning

Legends of the fall

Last of the Mohicans

All brilliant films btw if you haven't seen them.

I haven't seen any of them.

When Brooks leaves the prison in The Shawshank Redemption is very powerful and hard hitting.

I won't go into detail in the event someone hasn't actually seen the movie. The whole institutionalisation of prison and the struggle after it was absolutely brutal to watch.

Basketball Diaries. Moving, but I meant

Sleepers.

Great spot mate. It's true that people seem sometimes to become institutionalised in the prison system and eventually only feel safe in the four walls of a cell.

David Niven in

A Matter Of Life And Death

Always gets me, just about anything gets me going if the plots and acting's good, and the music is timed right....

Stand out ones:

Schindlers List

The Pianist

Dances With Wolves

Pretty much every movie, especially if there's an animal involved.

The Pursuit of Happiness is an amazing film.  I have Youlots to thank for pointing me in its direction.  Thank you, Youlots!

Biographical Moi, incredible, life affirming story.

Is that the one where Will Smith spends two hours telling us he has to go to work?
