Former Fifa vice-president Jack Warner has been banned from football for life.

The 72-year-old Trinidadian is the former head of Caribbean and North and Central American football (Concacaf), but quit Fifa in 2011.

He is fighting extradition to the US on corruption charges and denies accepting millions of dollars in bribes.

Warner committed "many and various acts of misconduct continuously and repeatedly" said the football world governing body's ethics committee.

Fifa's ruling follows its own investigation into the bidding process for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups, which began looking at Warner's activities in January 2015.

On Tuesday, Fifa said Warner had been found guilty of violating the organisation's code of ethics several times.

A statement read: "In his positions as a football official, he was a key player in schemes involving the offer, acceptance, and receipt of undisclosed and illegal payments, as well as other money-making schemes."

The United States wants to try Warner and 13 other current or former Fifa officials who were indicted in May.

Prosecutors allege that Warner - who was one of football's most powerful figures whose support was seen as crucial for any World Cup host bid - has been involved in criminal corrupt practices for more than two decades.

In June 2015, a BBC investigation found evidence of bribes paid to Warner.

I wonder if the FA will now change its stance on Platini. It has to surely. But then, this is the FA we're talking about.

 
Fifa has provisionally suspended its president Sepp Blatter, secretary general Jerome Valcke and vice-president Michel Platini for 90 days.

Blatter is whinging about it:

"A statement issued by Blatter's lawyers said the president was "disappointed" the ethics committee had not followed its own code in allowing him an opportunity to be heard, and claimed the suspension was based on "a misunderstanding of the actions of the attorney general in Switzerland".

Hopefully this is just the beginning. 

I'm hoping this isn't just for show and that we might see some genuine change. 

 
Couldn't make it up, suspend 3 on dodgy dealings, give the job to 2 people who have been done for dodgy dealings in the past. Is there anyone at fifa that s actually clean.

 
I'm sure you'll all be shocked to hear that Blatter and Platini didn't have a written contract agreement for the £1.35m payment made to Platini for the "work" he did between 98-02 (but for some strange reason was only paid in 2011).

This headline caught my attention this morning:

Fifa boss should remain in post - Bernie Ecclestone

This is the same guy who refers to women as domestic appliances, thinks that Hitler is somebody who could "get things done", does not agree with democracy and is an outspoken supporter of Putin, oh and before I forget, has also been tried on bribery charges (for which he paid a settlement).

The sooner the pair of them f**k off and die the better.

Platini's account of the "gentleman's agreement" is hilarious. 

"with Blatter asking Platini to become his football adviser and enquiring how much money he wanted.
Platini added: "I said 'a million'. 'A million what?' 'Whatever you want: roubles, pounds, dollars.' He said, 'OK, 1m Swiss francs a year.' Incredible though it may sound, that's what happened.""
