Film remakes that are a disgrace

The Pink Panther -- what were they thinking of ! particularly Steve Martin, who was once very funny.

and can you believe I saw an ad for Pink Panther 2 !!

I've just wet myself...
oh...my...god. I'm intrigued to watch the whole film now purely for the comic value. Was there need for Cage to punch that woman in the face while dressed as a bear? Seriously. :D

The Day the Earth Stood Still - just saw the remake on dvd: Club Keno is probably about the best thing going for it - I kid you not! Jennifer Connolly just comes across as pissed off all film (probably realized too late what a woeful script/direction/other casting etc). Kathy Bates is hilarious without meaning to be. Whole film had us in stitches. Original, of course, a classic.

is that the keanu reeves one? ive saw adverts for it and it looks utter garbage, unsurprisingly. i also watched the new time machine film last week, the one with guy pearce and samantha mumba. good god, it was horrendous. it had almost nothing to connect it to the original.

The Omen (2006)

The Omen was released on June 6, 2006 (6/6/06), at 06:06:06 in the morning. This symbolically represents the number 666, how original...

This film is for people who've never seen the original, and who are easily scared by mediocre films.

The Taking of Pelham 123. It's not out yet, but a film that just didn't need to be remade.

They must be bonkers! How could they possibly equal Robert Shaw and Walter Matthau?

Lost In Space (1998). Pointless, stupid remake that bore no resemblance whatsoever to the TV series of the same name, and is definitely down there among the worst films it's ever been my misfortune to endure.

The bees scene was fairly gripping. I don't remember that in the original.

Lot's of punching of women in the remake - I also don't remember a lot of that in the original.

Killing me won't bring back the honey.

Not the bees, not the bees...

Even though 666 isn't actually the devil's number. It's 616 - apparently a mis translation. How you can mistranslate those 3 numbers when the first and last number are identical is beyond me.

QI told me, of course -_-

I saw a documentary about that very thing Ruh Buh Juh (well that and other tings were covered in it) and there is still a lot of debate about it and a lot of 'scholars' who contend that 666 is the 'number of the beast'

The crux of it seemed ot be that the 616 vs 666 thing is an argument that centres around translation of very early copies of the book of revelations - an argument that we can see in the modern day every time a French footballer is away on international duty and is interviewed by L'equipe.

:Connie_threaten: like it, would the prophets then have gone back to jesus and his disciples and said they had just been misquoted....

Like in Billy Connolly's The Crucuifixion, where he explains that there had been a misprint in the Bible, and Jesus wasn't actually from Galilee but from the Gallowgate in Glasgow. So the disciples at the Last Supper were saying things like;

"Hey Big Yin, see's anither glass o that wine!"

But surely that can't be right, because 668 is the neighbour of the beast!

You're all wrong. The number of the beast is 606. And here he is, the beast of 606 himself:

Oh come on. You're not telling me that's human???
