Gabriel Jesus

Romano confirming reports.

City would like to sell to Real but they have a non-EU personnel limit. Jesus and agent both want to stay in England.

Between us and Arsenal.

Can't believe what I'm reading.

Gabriel Jesus has scored nearly 100 goals for City in 5.5 seasons, whilst playing second fiddle the majority of it. Add the fact he is heavily involved in the build up, presses' off the ball, and is Premier League proven, yet people don't rate him? Worse than Werner??? 😂
But he hasn't been second fiddle for the majority. He has been a regular starter for the past 3 seasons now, and for the past 2 seasons he hasn't got double figure goals in the league.

Do we want see goals in this team again? because the players we seem to be interested in the most don't actually score many goals. Put Dembele and Jesus in our starting eleven and where do the goals come from? If Jesus and Dembele can't score goals at City and Barcelona, then what makes people think they will be any better with us?

If not Jesus/Dembele then who?

I don't know, it's not my job to know, but surely there are players out there that we can get that can actually score goals. It just seems odd to me that the two attacking players we are the most interested in have issues in that area themselves.

People point at Dembele's assists and gush over it, but what good is that if he doesn't have any players who can find the back of the net from it?

Same goes for Jesus. People say he has good link up play, which is nice to have, but we also need the goals as well, where are those goals going to come from? He plays with some of the best attacking midfielders in the world, if he can't score goals with them, then how will he get them with us? and if he can't score the goals, who's going to do it?

I get what you are saying but fact of the matter is there is no guarantee striker/attacker in the market right now.

Lautaro, Leao and Oshimen have the Serie A tax. Gnabry and Nkunku have Bundesliga tax (Bayern fans also complain of Gbabrys inconsistency and this is Nkunku’s first productive season).

Id rather look for PL proven and specific manager targets in the meantime and both Jesus and Dembele are upgrades on what we have.

Jesus is premier league proven to not score enough goals at least the others have a chance to be better.  I’d rather take that chance.

Jesus can’t get better? He’s 25. Not 31.
He can improve but there’s no signs he’s suddenly going to become a world class player.   We already have a team of very good players we desperately need to find a talismanic player to take us to the next level.  Someone who can turn a game on its head or single handily win us games.  That’s not and never will be Jesus.  Pretty underwhelming signing if you ask me, well at least he runs a lot.

But who is that player? It's such a cop out to say Gabriel Jesus isn't what we should be aspiring for but then fail to bring up any alternative and say "its not my job".

As I mentioned previously, there is no striker/attacker in the market that is an absolute guarantee to be a success here. Bring up any name and there will be a catalogue of risks with them.

It isn’t my job to know, I mainly watch premier league so how would I know about players in Serie A.   The club pays people good money to find these players, if the best we can do is buy others teams cast offs then we might as well not bother with scouts.

We should take a calculated risk on a player with potential rather than a player we all know ain’t anything special.  Surely our scouts have some names.

Maybe Jesus would allow Borja more game time not being a big name signing I don’t know, but this feels like Newcastle buying Chirs Wood with the only intention of avoiding relegation and no other aspirations for anything better.

A couple year old videos but still highlights his ability.

Can finish with both feet, has great close control inside the box and as mentioned before great link up play.

Heavily reported TT likes him and I'm very in favour of this deal despite originally being slightly underwhelmed. It makes a lot of sense, I think his numbers would go up in a team that creates loads of chances but needs a confident forward who can play in this league and get goals.

All will be for nothing if we don't create a system that gets the best out of our attackers though. We need to establish a style of play that creates enough for our attackers.

Mendy

James Kounde Koulibaly Chilwell

Rice Kovacic

Mount                    Dembele

Havertz    Jesus

We already have a team of very good players
Tbf we regularly start Pulisic who has been embarrassingly bad his entire career aside from 1 month. Lukaku who has embarrassed himself in pretty much every single big game in his career over the last decade and Ziyech who has never performed in a top European league.

When it comes to attacking talent I genuinely don't think we have a team of very good players at all.

Does anyone really think any of those guys would perform any better at other top clubs?

For the money we've spent we've assembled an extremely poor set of attacking options and aside from Havertz and Mount if you group him in with the forwards I'd swap all of them for Jesus.

Oh no, not this stat again. I remember this exact stat being used to try and justify signing Morata.
Tbf there's quite a difference between mins per goals and assists in La Liga vs EPL when acquiring a player. Especially since in this case it's a player from the same league. I don't think Jesus is the same as Morata these are two different circumstances personally and two completely different players/playstyles.

While Conte played Alvaro on the wing on occasions that just looked awkward whereas Jesus looks very comfortable out there.

Would take him in a heartbeat and I think he will suit our system with the attacking players we have. He can actually pass the ball and link up play unlike our other striker.

Sigh...really hoping we avoid Jesus. I am talking about atheist-level rejection.
