Not sure that's actually true but if it is, maybe it's because we want to go after Fofana instead? Unlike Kounde, he won't need time to adjust to the physicality of the league, and we've already signed one CB from abroad.

We have seen ot reported TT was not keen on him, Marina had a deal lined up once the sanctions were lifted, and Todd and TT canceled it and went after 4 other players before returning to Kounde, who TT apparently was still not convinced was the right fit.

Kounde was the opposite of Raphinha. The latter made it clear he wanted Barca, the former showed up in London and took pictures with the fans while playing coy about a move we were said to be close to having him do a medical.

We lost a battle for Raphinha but I think we gave them Kounde simply as TT did not really want him.

I believe him. Cos he had nothing to lose. He didn't have to lie either and given  the stop, start , stop , start way we went about the whole deal,  Monchi's version of the story aligns with what we observed.

He is injured and recovering. They can afford to wait a week or 2 for him.

 
In order for Kounde to be registered, Barcelona will need to free up 'salary mass'.

They cooked the books last weekend  and the 4th lever was purchased by a bloke who literally funded Laporta's presidency. Reports will come out in a few weeks that they overvalued the purchase but yet again UEFA/FIFA won't do a thing. 

Barcelona could commit murder and they'll be fine. If Chelsea sign a few players under 16, boom. Transfer ban.

Honestly if you’d given me a choice at the start of the window on CBS, De Light and Fofana would have topped the list, so I think we’ve done very well. KK was a great surprise, and excited to see how he adjusts to the PL.
