A thing of beauty is not a thing to ignore so make sure you get to see Wigan's equaliser. 18 yards out half volley powered into top corner from your friend and mine Titus Bramble!!

But if that is not enough to make you smirk, then add to it the fact that the fluffed clearance that presented him with the opportunity was by none other than the world's greatest ever footballer (living or otherwise) Steven Gerrard.

Can anyone else hear an American accent calling 'Come on in
rafa.gif
your time is up!'

Lots of amusing footage of him having mini tantrums on the touchline and Scousers in the crowd looking like they had found a penny but had their houses robbed, which they may well have.

p.s. World's Greatest Fans Boo their team off (that my friends is the kind of fans who do that, lets not be like them)

*sniggers*

a total f**k up by Ickle Stevie by all accounts.

No doubt this will be covered in full by the UK media.

Chelsea has performed better with less over the festive period. Big positive for the players and Grant.

Stevie G's best pass of the season.

But he's the next England captain , la.

Of all games I really couldn't see them slipping up here. I'm sure you will see the usual quotes of "The league is not over yet" etc. but I realistically this was the final nail. Will be interesting to see if Benitez comes under renewed pressure from the board now.

Oh Come on Loz. Surely you understand that the World's Greatest fans deserve better than 1-1 draws against Wigan. That is why they booed. They are the World's Greatest fans regardless and this fact is not up for dispute ;)

I'm sure Talksport will be lively :)

p.s. This is Liverpool creating more 'istory'

Wigan's first ever Premiership point off a big four club.

I didn't watch the game but read about it on eurosport.com. In the live commentary it said:

90+2 The Wigan players are asking Steve Bennett not to send Torres off after he catches Bramble with an elbow and well-done Wigan, he gets a yellow and not a red. It was clearly an accident and even though Bramble went down he got straight back up to plead leniency

What was that about? Surely a Chelsea player would have seen red even if it was an accident?

Fair play to Wigan for doing that. I never like to see players asking the ref to send a player off. Of course I'm sure that the media would have portrayed it differently if a Chelsea player was involved e.g. replace "It was clearly an accident" with "It was clearly an elbow and the Chelsea player may face further action from the Premier League once they study the video that we will broadcast continually over the next few days....."

I just love results like this.

Scum please don't get rid of

Did anybody see the Spanish Tubby going berserk on the touchline in the end? He was screaming at Steve Bennett , completely lost it.

Really made my day.

Switched on the TV this morning and saw the news ticker and smiled joyously.

The worst thing that ever happened to Liverpool was Rafa winning that CL trophy because it actually convinced them that he was could somehow bring them further glory.

Trouble is he can't - he's a cup man - he will win them the odd FA Cup or Carling Cup, another CL trophy I doubt because the win against Milan was sheer lucky punt at half time in desparation to change the game.

But the premiership? Forget it, the guy just cannot get to grips with it and it doesn't matter how much he spends in the summer or in the January transfer window - he'll never win them what they crave. He could buy five Fernando Torres' and it wouldn't make a blind bit of difference, he snarked non stop about us over the years as we were winning under Mourinho saying it was just Roman's money that did it the manager's input meant little. Mourinho said at the run in to the season that tubby would be under real pressure now because he was now finally given the cash to spend after years of moaning he had none and that was what was holding him back. Now he would actually have to win something because the excuses he used to protect his pathetic showings in the league would no longer wash with the owners.

Mourinho must be pi**ing himself laughing after every Liverpool result just like me.

What makes me enjoy it the most however is the fact that I just know if I pop into one of the Liverpool fan forums you read even after today stuff like this:

"We may be 12 points off but I still think with our game in hand we have a chance to challenge".

"We are always stronger in the final stage of the season and we have this game in hand".

And of course the best one:

"In Rafa we trust!".

So now tubby is 12 points off, out of CL contention, with Man City looking like no fluke, he has already fallen out with the owners once and semi patched it up, scratched through in the CL be the skin of his teeth and is about to go to the owners who are in terrible debt and ask for more cash to save his non existent premier league campaign that already is dead and buried.

I hope he gets the sack at the end of this season and the owners (whoever they turn out to be) appoint Sam Allardyce as a punishment or Shearer/Klinsmann.

As long as those deluded, whining scousers keep pathetically thinking that tubby can somehow win them something year in year out and yet be out of the title race every year by Christmas I will be a happy bunny.

Now excuse me whilst I just go and have some fun lurking!

I just must listen to the podcast on 606 as well to hear those scousers start up.

I was sitting at work, checking the scores, and when they went up 1-0, I just had a feeling those worthless, longball, bar steward jokes would give one up. Imagine my joy when I saw they were gave one up

which went up when I saw Bramble's name on the scoresheet

which went up even further when I actually saw the highlight

I'll be honest, I thought they'd walk all over Wigan, so avoided the commentary and sat down to watch the final episode of the first season of Carnivale (which I've only recently got into), so had a very pleasant surprise when I discovered that the self-delusional ones had failed to grab all three points. That a whole 90 minutes plus injury time went by without a SINGLE PENALTY AWARD TO SAINT STEVEN the G(it) obviously had a lot to do with it.
