Looking After Their Own

Your dad chose a fine match - nice 5:1 win for us v Citeeh.

Help him whenever you can - I lost my dad 5 years ago because of this terrible disease and know how you must feel.

Dad meeting Roy Bentley was very special. It's 63 years since they played against Arsenal. Roy is now 91 and not very well. Dad thanked him for his help as a youngster at the club.Roy was a very good player and top man.

Also John Dempsey, a real gent and Kenny Swain were with us today. All the staff at Chelsea were excellent plus Zara and her 'team ' from Fulham.

^ Barrie, sounds like you and your Dad had a great day at the Bridge. A wonderful result and great for him to meet ex-players.

fantastic story.. hope your dad had a day to remember at the bridge,,,and well done to the Chelsea hierarchy for making this happen....still some soul in this great club...

Just met your Dad, Len Kell this afternoon with your mum at Greggs, Blackpool. It was a pleasure meeting them both. We shared a table. What a wonderful couple. Both looking very well for age- 85 and 84. Unbelievable, Len looks very fit for his age. Told me he exercises every day. We had a great conversation about each other. He will tell you about me. I was working in Chelsea all those years ago.  I'm 74. Told him that I would find him by googling!!

Hi Barrie, I see this thread is over 18 months old, but just come across it whilst doing some research.

I hope you & your dad are well and was hoping you could elaborate a bit more on his playing career so I can ensure his profile page on my web site is up to date and accurate.

I have already added Worcester City & Poole Town to his playing career from your earlier answer and noted you mentioned playing for an Australian team.  Any chance you could let me know what team that was and where it (and any other teams you can think he played for) fits in to the time line?

Please have a look at his page on my site and feel free to point out any discrepancies you see.

Best wishes

Paul.
