given Arse's success it's no wonder

Brentford themsleves have been very good at set pieces. There are numerous articles and videos online highlighting Brentford's varied approach to set pieces depending on the opposition. As long as the players buy into it, it should work in our favour as well, at least in theory.

You keep banging on about how the personnel is all that matters as if players wouldn't be able to learn and improve through coaching, and implying that the coaching team has no relevance. These players are still young and learning their trade in the PL, with good coaching, they'll improve in set pieces and in other aspects of their game.

City's goal yesterday is why we need a set piece specialist, when have we tried anything like that from a corner.

Sometimes I wonder if the players are merely taking the salary or do they really do everything to be the best. I would think every top player who carry massive transfer fee's do extra work and as a team a club like Chelsea would train specialist set plays every week. I would think 1 hour a week would do wonders.

We are consistent with our corners as we don’t clear the defensive first man on the majority of the time!!

We are pony at set pieces. Palmer is actually good at taking them so we should keep him on them and get a specialist in like OP mentions

We gave away so many set pieces last night and we did not concede from any of them, almost as if the players were giving them away just to train them on real time. Still, Newcastle were pants at them, strange considering the height that they had in comparison to us.

And I swear they had 4-5 free kicks from virtually the same place, their right flank halfways into our half. They kept on getting closer each time and I was convinced they would score eventually. I think it was Dan Burn who had the best chance, heading over from 8 yards.

Another bizarre thing is that about half of their corners were short corners, which given the difference in height made no sense to me.

Must be really slow news day, hiring a coach is considered as 'breaking news'. So he's coming regardless who the manager is for next season, what if the two have different opinions on set pieces defending/attacking? May need to buy a few players off Brentford too, I don't think their set pieces routine works well without the heights
