Next Coach?

His wages are going to 3x joining Palace judging by what Glasner is currently earning.

London.

Significantly better academy.

Better positioned to qualify for Europe every year.

I mentioned above that it's a good stepping stone to carry on and grow as a manager (now having to deal with Europe in the schedule) vs joining a big club, let alone a big club that is a poison chalice.
Are they though? I mean, last 3 seasons alone they've gone from 10th, 12th and now 15th (While Bournemouth kept rising). Sure the FA Cup was amazing and got them into the position they're now in Europe, but more likely than not they've a self-inflicted wound as they keep selling their best players instead of riding the momentum to aim higher.

Better wages for sure, but someone who stayed at Bilbao as a player for so many years would suddenly feel "frustrated" for not being in London? I don't really buy it tbh. Feels like a sideways and possibly damaging move to his ambitions, could well be him doing a Glasner next season when they sell Wharton, Mateta and maybe Muñoz after what could be a good WC.

The Todd spent too much, especially on wages so Clearlake forced him away from power to implement their business model. The only reason it started this way is the deal to buy Chelsea was so rushed Clearlake had other things to figure out so left it to Todd.

What we are now is what we will stay until BlueCo leave. That is the reality.

It can be discussed but the end will be the same as all the others in either:

  1. The head coach does a poor job and they have to sack him/let him leave (Potter, Rosenior, interim Lamps)
  2. The head coach does ok and then starts asking for things they don't want to give and he leaves (Poch, Maresca).
All without any push back from fans with many actually buying into their bo**ocks.

I can’t find any now defending this ‘model’. Even voices in the media are all now becoming one in that it’s not working. Pundits, media, influencers fans online and demonstrating matchdays.

They have gotten away with it so far but they have no support from anywhere now. Something has got to change even if it’s not wholesale, I have ever only wanted it tweaked. A manager who knows what he’s doing and some more experience in the first team. First team first and any buys for the future or player trading second. It’s not that hard a change.

That’s my immediate hope, for the sake of being able to enjoy football again next season.

Viva the revolution when it comes to eventually getting these leeches out our club long term.

I was listening to a podcast and they were debating the SD’s managerial appointments. Potter wasn’t WinStewarts, he was Todd’s. They were saying actually their record isn’t too bad:

Poch - whilst not hugely successful in trophies, he did help move the players forward and provide a spring board.

Maresca - whilst he wasn’t loved by us, I think he decent job and won 2 trophies and CL

Resenoir - Clearly a failure.

2/3 appointments a “success”? Of course, the counter argument is that we’re not a world class side and the appointments haven’t pushed us into the elite bracket.

Maybe they are earning it? I mean if we were winning the league and in the CL final would we be worrying about the wage bill?
Our board will.

Which podcast?

I'd say that the counter argument is that we were an elite club and their appointments have taken us to mid table fodder and possibly they'll take us down the Spurs route.

Marco Silva would be the most bland, BlueCo appointment you could imagine.
I will really struggle paying attention to Chelsea next season if Silva is our manager. It will absolutely be the nail in the coffin for our hopes of returning to the top table under BlueCo.

At least with Filipe Luis it's a gamble, an interesting one, especially if someone like Thiago Silva is in the coaching set up. But Marco Silva is just a sure fire failure waiting to happen. I'd start the season waiting for it to end. I think the same about Iraola, success at Bournemouth means f**k all to me. He's just a better looking version of Potter.

Having Thiago as an assistant would at least add some connection to the fan base.

The depressing thing is, connection to the fan base seems to be bottom of the list for this ownership group. They think they are smarter than everyone else and don't give a sh*t what we think.

I have a lot of criticism for Roman's ownership, especially towards the end. But they maintained a connection with us.

In other news, Mourinho to Real Madrid is heating up according to Romano.

I just can't see him doing well with those prima donnas.

Blimey, it's a tough call but I'll take your word for it if you say so!

Is Misha banned from coaching or just playing?

Put him in as interim until his ban is lifted… he’s as qualified as McFarlane is + we’d be saving money and if there’s one thing that really matters for BlueCo it’s not winning it’s making (not losing) money.
