Never heard of him, so sounds about right

Never heard of him. Might as well skip the agony, pay him £4 million now and organise a sweepstake for every match where a supporter gets to coach the team.

Keep seeing names like Ireola or even Marco Silva.

How many managers have made the step up from midtable to a big team and actually won the league? I cant think of any excluding Ranieri.

If you want to won the league or even challaenge for it, you bring in a manager that has won elsewhere in another big league.

Maybe Arteta wins this year, and that is possibly proof of developing a young coach being able to develop and then challenge, but its took him 6 years, and complete control.

Xabi Alonso clear 1st choice.

Nagelsmann

Simeone

Xavi

Deschamps

Zidane

If we dont hire a winner, it will be more of the same, and yes i know we arent that club anymore, but we should be with the amount we have spent.

Does that extend to Matthias Jaissle or Felipe Luis?

I agree with you though, I dont want Iraola. I dont see why anyone wants him. Bournemouth is the easiest club in the PL to manage alongside Brighton.

I think Felipe Luis would be a gamble, but at least he has already built a winning side, and as we saw in the summer, his team were impressive, and the South American opponents certainly were very capable themselves. Also knows his way around elite european football and the club and premier league too. So yes id extend that to Felipe Luis.

Jaissle i'm less convinced about, Austrian and Saudi football, is not the same level. Its good he has worked with some big names, but still too much of a roll of the dice for me.

Yeah I'd go with that. I would put Jaissle above Iraola. I'd put a lot of people above Iraola though. I'd also go with Danny Rohl. Who doesn't meet this bar, but I think if you've managed to walk into Rangers and have that season, and dealt with the bullsh*t at Wednesday as well, he'd probably do a good job here.

Is Iraola another Potter or something?

I don't understand how a Rangers manager and a bloke managing a Saudi club would be better options than him.

Nor me. Rohl is a promising young manager, let him learn at Rangers. Jaissle is going to be one of a thousand names dredged up by the click baiters. Wait for the skeleton of Matt Busby to be the next hot tip.

Yeah Iraola is another Potter in my opinion until he proves otherwise.

I have absolutely no idea why people seem so hot on him. Bournemouth have an attendance of 10k. They went 11 games in a row in the PL without winning this season, did you know that? No. Because no one cares about Bournemouth. He's just another in a long line of decent managers who has made a club no one cares about look decent occasionally under zero pressure.

Rohl on the other hand, is managing a club with a hugely toxic fanbase, 50k attendance, joined when they'd won one of the first 8 games, everyone said it was the sh*t squad the directors assembled and they have since been the best team in the league. So yeah I would put him over Iraola. I wouldn't hire him now, I'd hire him in 12 months when inevitably the next manager this board selects gets sacked - probably Iraola.

I mean devil's advocate he did lose 5 of his starters this season.

Filipe Luis interests me.

I fear what these owners will do to him though.
He is good - but like Mr.Cesc Fabregas - he needs another 2-3 years as a manager, before we hire him and destroy his life. . .

Simone Inzaghi?

Just trying to think out of the box.

Are we going with an interim manager for the rest of the season OR no manager for the rest of the season?

After the World cup - there might be a few more coaches available?

in the ideal world we should just make Carlo Ancelotti our new Sporting Director.

Big difference is, one has been doing it in the PL and one in a Micky Mouse league!

Any appointment will be a gamble, but I think we HAVE to go for someone with decent PL experience (which also rules out Luis for me). I get your argument re Iraola, but the guy has no right to be doing what he has done at Bournemouth with their budget and squad (and keep losing their better players).

Ideally it'd be Simeone, Emery, Luis Enrique or Nagelsmann, but I'd be happy with Alonso or Iraola. But all of these will require a change in direction from the ownership to have more say in how things are run. This 'collaborative approach' is complete horsesh*t and just LinkedIn talk for micro-managing. No top coach is gonna want to deal with some clueless yanks telling us how we've been doing 'soccerball' wrong for 100 years.

This a thousand times, some of the converstations i'm seeing flying around (some in jest i know), look Ireola has done great at bourmouth but he's not going to walk in to the chelsea dressing room with a group of players who think they are better then they are and control the narative. There has to be a respect level that will have them run through a brick wall for him, that can be force of personality or medals on the table. Simeone can do both!

BETTING FOR NEXT CHELSEA MANAGER

4/5 - SOOTY

2/1 - BASIL BRUSH

3/1 - PINOCCHIO

5/1 - KERMIT THE FROG

10/1 - ROLAND RAT
They’re all too big names who’d expect to be pandered to & demand control over their domain.
