A year on...

but never, never forgotten!

Blimey, a year already.

Zola may have been voted the greatest player in Chelsea's history but I doubt there would be many who would disagree that Ossie is the player in Chelsea's history whose overall image, attitude, flair and swagger is the most closely aligned to the feeling of the club as a whole.

We were truly blessed.

Have the club made any further plans regarding a memorial?

I just don't think a plaque the size of a packet of fags where nobody can see it is fitting somehow.

A year already? it only seems about ten years ago he was playing and its still one of my best Chelsea memories,

I think I will re watch the 70 final DVD to show my respect for the man,

you know you need it Loz

Where has the time gone? Ossie is my all time hero (clue in my username!!!)

and I agree with Bluenut it would be great for a fitting memorial to the man who was a true CHELSEA LEGEND!!!

As someone mentioned a year ago, renaming the East stand the Peter Osgood Stand would be a fitting tribute. But the likes of Kenyon, Buck and to some degree Roman have no idea and never will what the man was to our club and its supporters. Lets face it, by today's standards he just didn't sell enough shirts!

yeah it doesn't seem fitting enough. he was in the excutive suit working, but he is a peoples hero and I am told would have prefered a pint down the pub (old Windsor) anyday.

But I would take it over nothing.

Can I just say I can't beleive it is a year already also.

I always envisioned a life size statue of Ossie in the Shed entrance in front of the hotel, here supporters young and old could pay homage to the great man, if Leeds could do it for Bremner (ugly looking thing though it is) then why can't Chelsea do it for "the King"? a small bust tucked away in an executive area smacks of elitism, and isn't what Ossie was about, he was a fans man and always expressed that.

Maybe the fans (mostly us older ones!) should hold talks with the club about this, and maybe even start fund raising events to get it done, then it would be OUR tribute to him, I reckon he would love that himself, so any one got any ideas? surely with all our supposedly wealthy supporters, not to mention the rest of us, it shouldn't be too much to ask should it??

John.

Maybe it's the first step on the way to re-naming the East Stand. First get a bust of him there and then change the name in his honour. Probably won't happen, though.

Peter Osgood was the best player I ever saw in a Chelsea shirt.

He had everything - two good feet, great ball control, good in the air, superb skill, and before his leg got broken, good pace. He was also a great character, with a good sense of humour, and the ability to take care of himself on the pitch.

I wouldn't want the East Stand named after him. It was the East Stand that plunged Chelsea into so much debt we nearly folded, it's usually full of people who show no passion for the club, and it's only a matter of time before it's pulled down (hopefully). The East Stand evokes a lot of bad memories for a lot of Chelsea fans, naming the Shed after him would be far more appropriate - he was a legend to the people who watched from The Shed.

But I feel that Ossie deserves so much more than that - he should have a statue erected in the main entrance in his honour, no question!

I have it on dodgy VHS - an upgrade would be welcome

At least I got to se Zola play, never got to see Ossie, but you can't be Chelsea and not know the importance of the man.

Osgood Osgood

Born is the King of Stamford Bridge

Scott

Bit before my time was old Osgood. However i remember, on a number of ocassions, Glory55 walking up to this old bloke (shame on me for not recognising him

) and saying "Your my old mans hero" and Osgood would always stop, listen to what you had to say and give his regards.

He was a fans fan. Truly a Chelsea legend.

Gone but not forgotten!!

Blakie's story of Ossie is one of my favourites. He went up to Ossie and said 'whenever I played football I was always Peter Osgood' and Ossie replied 'that's funny, so was I' - pure class from one of, if not the greatest players ever to play for Chelsea and also one of the nicest guys you could ever wish to meet.

disgrace that there is no statue...should have a nice big one in the big space leading up to west stand, or around the chelsea village...he is chelsea and fans want to pay their respects and honour their hero
