Henry is a right cheating cocky c**t!! I hate the bloke. I don't care how good he is, how much of a role model he is, it's all bollox. Kirkland should have chinned Henry yesterday.

The way he runs thumping his chest with his serious look when he's scored a goal like it was a walk in the park. What a w***er.

 
I've always said the Herny has a great game against the minor teams, but rarely turns up for the big time matches. He is sulky brat, with some silky skills, but with the temperament of a four-year old

David Pleat summed Arsenal and Henry up for me yesterday, when he said they were behaving as if Wigan were doing something wrong in beating them. This seems to be the case in every match in which they go a goal down. Arrogant c*nts the lot of them.

I hope we stuff them when we play them.

Anyway, I'm glad he turned up with that header against the Mancs the other week.

 
Wigan were robbed yesterday, it was an absolute tragedy. Heskey should have got that penalty, Flamini was offside, why were Wigan not allowed to bring there treated played back onto the pitch. Lehmann and Henry yet again proved themselves to be cocks of the highest order and yet again Wenger didn't see the penalty claim.

Bottle the World Cup final ? Not such a popular myth as I've only ever heard that one here. From you.

With the formation France played he was extremely isolated in the final and yet still managed to be a real threat whenever he got the ball in dangerous areas. You may remember, even Pauly came on these forums and admitted that Cannavaro hadn't looked as assured against Henry as he had throughout the rest of the tournament. That wasn't too suprising to me as Henry had taken him to the cleaners on the few occaisions they had met before.

I'll give you the Champs League final though.

What really makes laugh is that if he was Italian and played in Serie A but had flopped on every big stage he'd ever walked on, you'd be arguing the opposite. It was the formation, the tactics, the service to him etc, etc. because he's the best thing since sliced bread. In a kind of Tottiesque, Veroniesque way of course.

goals are quite important I'd say... not that they exactly indicate great peformances, but no goals in x amount of cup finals... is that good? does it suggest something?

as for drogba? best striker in the world right now? along with villa, how can you argue?

p.s. as you know, totti broke his leg right before the world cup last year. a miracle he even got there- a shame, as italy would have been even better with the euro 2000 final motm fully fit!

 
The Euro 2000 final ? To be honest I couldn't remember much about it off the top of my head except for the golden goal bit, so I had to read up a few match reports. Henry hit the post in that game. If it had gone in there's your goal and presumably Henry's bottle wouldn't be in doubt. Still I guess on such small, simple margins bottles stand or fall.

Incidentally, he scored in the semi-final against Portugal, (reasonably big game), so he obviously had his bottle with him that day.

I do remember the 2001 Cup Final though. Henry was superb and did everything but score. In fact if the Liverplod player, (can't remember his name), hadn't handled on the line he would have had that elusive final goal.

 
I think he'll get it once he retires to the j-league, maybe.

 
So long as he doesn't get it in Cardiff on the 25th I don't care.

I feel he is slightly past his peak now, but the ONLY defender I have seen who looks consistently comfortable up against Henry is .................. Gallas.

 
My two cents.....

Cent One

On the actual incident against Wigan. I was away at a family do on the Isle of Arran Sunday to Monday and so missed all highlights of the game - can someone explain if Andy Gray went on to explain why he thinks the 'ref is entitled ot let that go'?

Cent Two

On the Henry - 'Van Basten or Van Vossen' argument I fall somewhere in the middle. I don't think he is as much of a bottler as G4 says but I also don't think he is in the very top bracket of strikers.

My biggest criticism of Henry (and it always has been and I have probably bored you enough with this but hey ho the topic came up again!) is his lack of discipline of a football pitch. I don't mean 'discipline' in terms of 'that cheeky shaved headed cockney midget just picnhed my thigh so I am gonna welly him and get sent off' - what I mean is discipline in terms of holding his position irrespective of how the game is going.

When all is going well for Arsenal everything flows, passes come off, Henry is in position, runs onto the ball, scores possibly the best ever goal since the last one he scored, Andy Gray touches himself in places no woman should ever have to go and Wenger hops up and down inside his starched suit looking like an extra in Thunderbirds.

However when things do not go well Henry goes walkabout. If the midfield is not delivering service to his liking he drifts wildly in pursuit of the ball. Now to some that may sound like a good thing, a man ready to pull up his sleeves, go hunting for the ball, and try and create wherr others aren't however, for me, the net effect of that is a detrimental one.

Henry, more often than not, is a lone striker for Arsenal, if he goes walkabout, the front line goes walkabout. If he goes walkabout then possession won in a deeper part of the pitch (from an Arsenal perspective, and I am not referring to Billy's pockets) is far less threatening for the opposition because Henry has deserted his post.

If Henry learnt to stick to his role even when the team are playing poorly, and be more patient and not want to run the show (and therefore be Arsenal's Gerrard) then I think that Arsenal would have been far more successful at turning their poorer performances into wins rather than dropped points.
