Ratings (v West Ham)Cudicini - 7 - Claimed a few balls safely and distribution quite good with one oustanding pass, handsome

Bridge - 7 - Got into a few decent positions and always showed for the ball

Alex - 5 - For a big fat lad he gets pushed around a lot, pussies into tackles, not positive enough, ponderous in posession, not a proper centre half

Terry - 6 - A proper centre half

Belletti - 6 - Showed quite well most of the time, solid enough in general

Lampard - 6 - Nothing good, nothing bad

Mikel first half - 4 second half - 6 - Piss poor first half, far too many touches and poor distribution, ridiculous challange, marginally better second half when he had a bit more time. Far from the finished article, but a least he's the shed end forum favourite judging by the comments above

Cole - 7 - Mailnly for the goal but had a decent second half all told

Sidwell - 4 - Ginger tw*t, should be sold to Sunderland for 14m

Kalou - 6 - Repeats the same move over and over and over again, and it's not a particularly good move

Drogba - 7 (MOM) - Constant threat, occupies the entire opposition back 4, no little skill, crowd pleaser

SWP - 7 - Did well and livened things up

Grant - Brilliant subsitutions totally changing the game yet again. He really is a master tactician. Classic Avram interview after as well, understated and modest, with some well chosen cliches. AG =

Never saw the point in signing sidwell in the first place. If we can sell him on for more than we bought him for, then I say go for it. lets be hnoest here, he is not good enough to be in the first team, and if he wants regular first team play then Sunerland will be a better option for him. My only concern is this: if we do let him go, and we want a side of some of, if not the best, players in the world thena re we ever going to have happy "squad players?" I doubt it. People like baba and Paulo are great players in the fact that they are more than competent when they are called on, but don't gripe if they are not starting every game. Right now, the only midfielder we have who could claim this is sidwell.

This, for me, furthers the point that we should try and play more of our youngsters. a few games here and there from the reserves to the first team will make them hungry to impress when on, and if they are good enough fair play. If they are not good enough, I am sure some first team games in the premiership will make them attractive to "lesser" teams like sunderland

Did we get him just that we get more English-born players in our squad... He is English, right?

I went to check his nationality from our official site and as I clicked Sidwell's name it gave me "Sorry an error has encountered".

I mean our marketing team has probably said that we would get 2,5% more income on shirt sales if we buy 1 or 2 english-born players....

 
I like sidwell as a player-

good background coming through the arsenal youth system, fair passer, energetic, decent tackler... he's a player who could really affect a club lower down the league...

sadly, he's totally unrequired by us, and I think his signing helped diarra decide to leave.

 
If we sell him for £5million then that has to be an excellent piece of business on our part seeing he came as a freebie. It's about time we started getting some money back considering how we've paid well over the odds in recent times.

 
I wouldn't mind if we sold him but I would prefer if it happened next summer. Maybe we need him when Essien and Mikel are away?

 
Good point there Moos, it would be pointless to let him go in January. However, if Sunderland were to offer a "5mill now, or we go elsewhere" contract to us, we would be foolish to say no.

Anyone in the ressies who would come into the side during the ACN, if we were to sell Sidwell, while Essien and Mikel are gone? Our startin midfield 3 (assuming we stay with the 4-3-3) during this time could be Maka, Lamps, Ballack? Not exactly hurting, but maka's pace is a concern. Not a major one, because he has always been a player who relies on technical ability over speed.

Or, during the ACN will we switch to 4-4-2 and play with 2 wingers?

We could see: Cole...Lamps...Ballack...Malouda

...........................Pizaarro........Sheva

Again, barring any injuries, not a bad line up there. With SWP available to come on too

I think that may be the best bet to get the best out of Sheva, late on we could bring on SWP and push Joe up front with which ever of the two looks like he needs to come off.

Not bad at all, but I'm a bit worried about injuries. There's alot of games coming up and I wouldn't be at all surprised if someone got injured. What if Maka or Ballack is injured when Essien and Mikel are away?

We will have a very thin squad indeed. Sounds strange to talk about thin squad when we used to talk about how many central midfielders we have

So without injuries the squad looks okay. Not great, but okay.

But I agree that if we're offered £5m now or else nothing, then I would like us to cash in. I have no doubt that we could get another midfielder if we need to.

youre missing the point of him, it was not to walk into the first team, it was to be Frank's successor! The lad is local, chelsea family, and english. moreover he has undeniable talent and we need that. For us to lose him now would just be stupid, especially when people are talking about letting frank go because he doesnt seem "super" anymore..

well if thats the case, then look no further than sidwell, who given lamps' place would im certain do us proud.

trying to judge him on the few appearances hes had during a most turbulent time is simply not possible. not having understudies and trying to insert purchased talent all the time is bad bad bad for us or any team. Desailly had JT, Lamps has Sidwell.

think about maybe two seasons from now. hmm, wheres frank? wheres ballack? wheres essien??? not around. whos our midfield? why none other than Mikel, Sidwell and Joe. the youth.

Sidwell must stay, i say!

aside from the fact that there is a massive, unbridgable gap in terms of quality between sidwell and lampard (which was not the case with jt and marcel), how much older is he than essien anyway (if indeed he is in fact older)?

Haven't seen it yet. Hope we will see some of it soon. I think Sidwell is the most uninteresting player in our squad. Maybe he is good backup, maybe he has a bright future, maybe, maybe...

 
basically youre all basing your assessment on what youve seen of him at Chelsea.

i already said you cant judge him yet, hes not played enough, remember how f**king long we gave drogba??! no youve all forgotten about that ;)

life did not begin at chelsea for Sidwell, he has been awesome in the championship and premiership already and is ready to be an understudy to a top tier player.

Truth is he's not good enough!! Its a well know's fact that Me and G4 dont agree on n awfull lot, its also a well known fact that when we do we are with out question correct.

Fact with out question.... sidwell is not good enough!!
