I assume from all this, that in the future the next microsoft console will far outsell Playstation 4's!

It doesn't seem to get any better for Sony! Shame cause the PS3 is one hell of a console!

Sony network attacked againBreaking news

A hacker group has claimed it has attacked the Sony network and stolen more than one million passwords, email addresses and other information.

Lulz Security said it broke into servers which run SonyPictures.com.

Sony said it was aware of Lulz Security's statement and was investigating, the Associated Press reported.

In April, hackers broke into Sony's PlayStation Network and stole data from more than 77 million accounts.

That attack was considered the biggest in internet history and led to Sony shutting down the PlayStation Network and other services for almost a month.

In a statement on Thursday, Lulz Security said it had hacked into a database that included unencrypted passwords as well as names, addresses and dates of birth of Sony customers.

"From a single injection, we accessed EVERYTHING," it said. "Why do you put such faith in a company that allows itself to become open to these simple attacks?"

The group also recently claimed responsibility for hacking the website of the PBS network and posting a fake story in protest of a new programme on WikiLeaks.

I don't suppose there is a way to get your info off their network anymore? I'm certainly not purchasing anything any time soon through their network...but wanted to know.

 
Heard on the news that there is a group of hackers targeting the big companies claiming that they have hacked them, when in fact they did not. They never come up with the proof, but claim they did just to fcku up the giant companies and give them a bad reputation. News stated that Sony was not hacked for the second time..it was only a claim....not sure who to believe.

 
If what I have read is true then it seems the security was as rubbish in this case as it was in the original hacking of PSN. If so youve gotta wonder who the hell is in charge of security at Sony, you would have expected a complete overhaul of all systems, or at least a look at any weakness`s and an attempt to tighten any problems. This really could be a huge hammer blow to Sony, a shame as they are a very innovative company who are usually at the front of any technological advancements.

 
The trouble there BN, is we all know that Microsoft is hardly a hack-proof company don't we!

Nothing is hack proof, no matter how clever the security bods are, the hackers are cleverer. Or so I`m told.... :unsure:

:laugh2: Nor PSN from the sounds of it. I think the biggest problem Sony will have in convincing people to stay with them is just how lax their security was, and just how easy it was to bust wide open. And not just PSN, it seems to have been all through the company that they have had the same problems. Maybe they will think twice next time they decide to piss the Linux nerds off.

 
Forgetting also that the PS3 got hacked by some bod some months back, they claimed it couldn't be done.

Didnt one of the execs also release the software key by accident a few months ago? Was that the catalyst for it being hacked? Its not been a good year for them so far has it.

 
Is it just me who thinks microsoft may have paid an outside group of cpu experts to hit Sony on a large public scale. It sounds like something they'd would do to drum up sales of the next generation of consoles e.g. PS4 and the X-box equivalent

 
Dont think so, it seems to have started when Sony pulled the ability to run Linux on the PS3 for no reason, after they also destroyed a couple of 3rd party companies. Basically they pissed off the wrong people from the sounds of it.
