Its human nature to steriotype certain people, see a skinhead presume he's a racist, see gangs of black youths think muggers/drug dealers, see Goths think their junkies ect.

I saw a skinhead get attacked in Carnaby St in the early 90s by a group of black lads, he had the full skinhead gear on, one lad saw him started calling him a nazi then the others attacked him, to be fair the skln steamed in but got done with a golf umbrella, all the while he was shouting "im not racist i love Ska" it didnt matter though to the black lads he was a racist, i aint got a clue if he was or not but they didnt give him a chance.

Doubt many of you know but there's a group called S.H.A.R.P which stands for SKINHEADS AGAINST RACIST PREJUDICE, what if that skin was a member of that? or what if he was a Gay fella?, Gays that adopted the skinhead look, poor git took a kicking for the way he was dressed.

Anyone remember this ad?

I remember going on a rock against racism march in East End (Clash gig) in the late 70's and stood by me was a skin with jacket on which said "skinheads against racism" the looks he got and we all got from skinheads drinking outside of pubs on the way were not friendly.

There is still racism but TBH you must be daft to judge someone by their race/colour or any other external factor. Never judge a book by it's cover.

You've only got to look at abuse Canonville got from Chelsea fans to know what our club was like. Was in east lower when he warmed in front of us, it made me ashamed to hear what was said to him that day.

It was the funeral yesterday of Chubby Chris, ive heard he had a turn out of 300, obviously mainly Chelsea but also lads from Wolves, Bham, Hudds, Wall, funny story told was Chubby nutted some geezers in Pattaya after watching a Chelsea Leeds game. The blokes getting up from the floor said....."I said we're Swedes not Leeds". Very funny and went down well.

R.I.P to a Chelsea Terrace ledgend.

Pleased he had a good turnout, respect for anyone who put themselves in the firing line for our great club. RIP chubby I'll wear my Dog bo**ocks t-shirt with pride!

Talking of Chubby, there's a photo of him in last Saturdays Daily Mail- group picture of a load of skinheads, he's the one at the front with the white T-shirt if anyone's got the IT savvy to upload it. Nice bloke as I remember, even if the FFC on his knuckles could be a bit confusing. RIP

A memory came floating back to me the other day.  Forest away mid 80s, night game, we were given all the lower tier seats on the side opposite the cameras instead of the usual away terrace.  We were held back a long time after the game, but when we came out a whole load of us tried to get out on the Trent End side of the stand and there was one copper holding the gate.  SR then adopted a Geordie accent and continually told the copper "We're Newcastle" until he relented and let us out.....that is those who weren't pissing themselves laughing.  Over the bridge and suddenly there's another mob in sight 100 yards away in the darkness.  Speed up and just as the regular pre-row noises commence, I spot a well known bod from Wembley and others recognise a few faces and it turns out they're all Chelsea.  Disappointment all round

Millwall in the 80s at the Bridge..........There were so many chaps running at and chasing each other up all the side roads i dont really think many really knew who was who......

Really glad we had a few 'lads' following Chelsea at times.

Me and a mate drove up to Man Citeh in early 80s, a late morning kickoff, was when Eddie Nedwky in goal, big Joe at centre half, and that awful yellow away kit with red stripes. We parked up and walked to the ground, and the 2 of us were just about to get a right kicking from the City boys, when a Chelsea mob arrived who'd been in Blackpool the previous night, and they steamed straight in.

Went to a few games after and was always on nodding terms with them.

I was there in the late 70's and all the way through the mid 90's before I moved abroad.

You have to remember that as poor kids (most of us were) the pressure from the national Front and British movement to join and hate was intense. One by one your friends signed up for it and became violent haters. I'm not proud to say I signed up in the end and went around fighting Asians, blacks, gays and any fan of a team other than Chelsea.

It became self reinforcing, I had the sh*t kicked out of me multiple times getting from Essex to Fulham Broadway, mile end station often became a death trap for me and the few blokes that traveled in from Essex.

That created more hatred not just for the &^%$ hammers but all other fans. rinse repeat.

Then being in the Shed (middle for me) and surrounded by your Chelsea brethren kept the hatred alive and intensified it.

Lets not overlook that being whooped in a game most Saturdays also added to the desire to beat the sh*t out of the assholes in the away end.

For me the worst was season 82(I think) when we almost got relegated to the third division (for &^%$ sake). We beat the crap out of a very small group of QPR supporters and left a couple unconscious. As big an asshole as I was back then I never wanted to fight anyone if we really outnumbered them.

In summary, poverty and lack of a chance in life, combined with immigration policies, violent music and a losing record drove a lot of us insane.

I'm now almost 50, have two kids and I'm glad the worst part is history, that said when I hear about any Chelsea fan getting a beating I still get enraged but do my best to keep a lid on it.

PS I left England at the end of 96 (after 25-26 yrs of never winning a trophy other than the Full members cup) and in 97 we won the FA Cup and its been magic ever since. You lot don't want me coming home is what I'm saying LOL

Second that, in the early 70's coming from Leigh on Sea. Barking was'nt much better,  when travelling home after night games even when West Ham wer'nt playing. More times than not, there were a handful patrolling the platform looking for targets.

Travel instead on the Southend- Liverpool St line, and Stratford was just as bad!.

Had quite a few Essex Chelsea mates - Laindon, Benfleet, Upminster.  Not sure where all of them came from, but knew about 6 or 7 blokes all up. Taff had it in for one bod from Chelmsford IIRC.
