So the swiss release him because of some technicalities or what not, despite knowing he confessed to the charges.

All I can say is I hope the Swiss take all our pedophiles!

So sickening

After the Swiss ruling, Polanski paid "massive thanks" to his supporters."I simply want, from the bottom of my heart, to thank all those who supported me and tell them today of my great satisfaction," the Polish-born French filmmaker said in a statement released to the AFP news agency by his lawyer Herve Temime.
Polanski's wife, French actress Emmanuelle Seigner, said she was overjoyed at the decision. She said: "It is with great pleasure that I have just learned of my husband's release. For me and for my children it is the end of a nightmare that has lasted more than nine months.

"I am really looking forward to being able to make plans and to once again have a normal family life, especially with my children, who did not deserve this suffering," she added in a statement.
A normal family life? what the f**k? your husband and the father of your children raped a 13 year old, great role model. Not going to deny he's had a few good movies with Chinatown & The Pianist but christ sakes that shouldn't get him all this help, send him to prison already!

Didnt you know? To some people being a superstar and creative means you are exempt from the rules and moral values the rest of us plebs need to live our lives by. Make a good movie or 2 and you can do whatever the hell you like.

to me this is an extreme example of the "hey i'm making a movie here" syndrome. traffic stops, everything stops because someone is making a film. because in their opinion, making a film is more important than real life.

it's an equally extreme example of the cult of celebrity that allows the likes of Pete Dougherty to repeatedly get off with a slap on the wrist at most.

i'd like to add a little bit more about the Cult of Celebrity. whoever it was said that "if God didn't exist, mankind would have to invent him", had a point. and in all seriousness i believe that the worship of so-called celebrities has got a hell of a lot to do with what is wrong with modern day society.

You should try shooting a movie on location on a street without blocking the traffic. :laugh2:

The productions that are big enough to be able to block traffic and have part of a street or more just for their use need to pay and can afford to do so for that privilege.
