Ive wondered how young players see this, as it could possibly give them a much better route into better clubs than their current club can. Say we get a young player from Bristol, I expect their could be a limit on where he can go from there, but he comes to us, goes on loan to a better club and is in the shop window. as long as they perform its pretty much win/win for them. They either come back and get a chance with us or are on the market and wanted by good clubs.Young players just want to play football. I imagine Omari is delighted with how we've managed his development and that he now has a number of top flight clubs wanting to put him in their first team.
Hazard was levels above Omari when we signed him. And importantly, we did sell him on for profit.
If Paez is good enough we'd retain him. We aren't selling Omari to Man City or Madrid, we're selling him to Stuttgart or Ipswich. If Paez turns out to not be good enough for us, he's not good enough for our rivals either. And in the event City came calling and he didn't have a route to our first team, we aren't going to demand silly money, he will get out. What you say is true and the Hazard example may not have been the best example, but could this be a consideration for the future Paez & Willians to consider when having the biggest teams in the world all vying for their signature? Especially if we have a massive number of players sold on for profit compared to our rivals?
I would imagine Ipswich will break their transfer record now they are in the PL, and likely will do so on players they can sell if they go down, younger players with not so high wages, rather than 30 plus ones on big wages that would risk their financial well-being if they go down. Our best bet is A**x.
£20m would exceedingly break the transfer record for both Ipswich and Stuttgart.
Id be surprised if Palace don't come calling. They'll have the money if they sell Eze and/or Olise. Our best bet is A**x.

I'm not really talking about selling the plethora of young players that have never played for us like Omari or that bigger clubs will scoop them up. My point is would a future Paez not have to at least put our model into consideration when weighing up the positives and negatives of signing? With many clubs vying for the same players little things could sway it either way. Yeah it's all good business and as you say some may see it as a gate way to bigger things but in the end I don't really care for players that are just here profit making, what I do care about is the actual Chelsea team. The next young Mbappe turning us down because of their belief they might not be given the opportunity to prove themselves given our reputation is a possibility. If Paez is good enough we'd retain him. The example with Omari is would he have been better going to a Brighton or West Ham? Where if they performed well the only route they have to a Chelsea level club is to be sold for 80-100m which in the case of Declan Rice meant being stuck for years until a club is confident enough to pay that amount.
Omari could always say no, he could push back and say I want my chance at Chelsea, and we'd keep him. Chalobah and Gallagher both have gone down that route, and they still may get their exit to a big club at a fair price.
City treat their players same as we do. It's why we now have Palmer. But if Palmer was at Brighton instead of City he'd still be there now. Instead he's playing for us in our first team.
If he's as good as those close to him believe he is, then why are we going to sell him ?Doubt that ever happens to be honest, footballs different to how it used to be. The players and their agents know that a youth set up as effective as ours is good to be around, wether you are going to make it at the club or not. Yes, im sure all parties would have liked a scenario where things went well and he broke into our first team but this is hardly a disaster for anyone. I'd go as far as saying its the type of success story you would dangle in front of new talent e.g We give you x y and z chance of getting into our team with this pathway but if things dont go well, look how good the 'failure' scenario is.
Omari has spent a year with the academy, we've picked out a decent loan for him which will likely lead to him getting a first division transfer (England or Europe). Ultimately, thats a success for him. He's got his foot in the door at the top of professional football and, if he's as good as im sure he and those close to him believe he is, he can then kick on and show that with regular football.
Tosin is going to have to be some player cause when it comes to making profit next summer guess who's going to get sold?I swear if he was actually an Ipswich player who wanted to move to us, we would snap him up.
This is nothing to do with how good or not a player is...
No doubt about it mateTosin is going to have to be some player cause when it comes to making profit next summer guess who's going to get sold?
Good call, and would be smart of them to negotiate a deal alongside the Olise sale to us.Id be surprised if Palace don't come calling. They'll have the money if they sell Eze and/or Olise.
In short I think this strengthens our hand at signing young players, noy weakens it.How long before players refuse to sign for us because of this?
I am not sure that was fully the point that @DarkMata was making. My interpretation of his original post was that if I was Angelo Gabriel's parents seeing their son being packed off to another country to play for the great Chelsea side, whether first team or Reserves (PL2) i'd be made up for the lad. I would have a completely different outlook if he was then immediately shipped out to another country altogether to play for a side that i probably have barely heard of. That could alter my opinion. In short I think this strengthens our hand at signing young players, noy weakens it.
Why? Because while while ideal is a career at Chelsea, becoming the next Drogba, Lampard or Terry, earning huge wages and being part of a glorious trophy winning side, that is not reality for most who come in, and it was not under Roman either.
However what they do get is one of the best youth setups in the world. Top class facilities, top coaches.
The more loans like Omaris, and if that leads to a transfer to top league, will show they can make a good career for themselves by spending a few years here.

serves him right for being one of those tie dye, flower power, one love hippies.... they also always go around bare foot all the time.and only wore boots from the age of 16. Have you ever played football barefoot? It's not easy, hard to get used to and fkn hurts soo much with the smallest mistake. Must have taken him a year or two to get used to not running with his toes up.
Lol, I haven't heard that phrase "flower-power" in ages. Made me smile. Hahaha.serves him right for being one of those tie dye, flower power, one love hippies.... they also always go around bare foot all the time.
Imagine how gross his feet must be...bet he doesn't have a page on wikifeet....
