Well That Was An Anti Climax

Disapointed in the last episode infact, i would go as far as to say its the worst last episode out of the new ones, not enough of the doctoring, or to much im not sure...

but not enough from the origional 2 hearts doc, just seem to stand there to be honest!!

They spoiled Dr Who when they brought in all the sloppy stuff! You can't imagine Jon Pertwee snogging his assistant! Or Tom Baker! And I can't imagine anyone wanting to snog Colin Baker!

They have far from spoiled it. The last few years has seen Dr Who saved. The episodes with Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy and Paul McGann threatened the existence of the show (not to mention the fact that Michael Grade gave ot a viewing slot placing it in direct competition with Coronation Street).

Russell T Davies should be given a knighthood for giving us a bloody great TV show back when all around us TV is jam packed with absolute garbage. Not just for the fact that it has great stories again but also for managing to pick good people to play the Doctor. A shame Davies is standing down but in fairness it is in very good hands with Steven Moffat who has arguably written the best two episodes in recent times.

He also wrote 'The Second Coming' which was superb. In general his CV is very impressive. However I still say Dr Who is his greatest achievement (although I acknowledge Queer As Folk was very good). I say this because he took a dying beast and breathed new life back into it and, in doing so, resurrected something that is very much a British TV institution.

Is The Second Coming taken from the Yeats poem? Was it a play with Christopher Eccleston?

It did star Christopher Eccleston as the son of God on a mission to save. There is some similarities between it and the Yeats poem in that the poem focuses on man bringing about its own destruction whereas the TV show tackles the concept of mankind having to be accountable for its own actions. However I don't actually know if the Yeats poem was ever mentioned as an influence.

I quite fancy seeing it again now that we are discussing it - may need to peek around some downloads.

I watched this in utter disbelief, how can so many people become addicted to such a tacky, nonsensical show such as this?

Especially when you consider how many amazing shows go comparitavely unnoticed - Dexter, Prison Break, My Name is Earl, House etc.

I dont think its tacky, its different, its sci fi with a twist... rather than have a super hero that has strehgn speed, see girls naked through there cloaths vision we have a guy that is always saving the world with nothing but his brain!

the last episode was a let down though, prehaps they spread them selves to thin in the last penultimate episode

As for it being nonsensical - well you have to accept it is supposed to be science fiction and therefore doesn't actually have to conform to current day 'sense' - by its very definition it is supposed to speculate on how things might be rather than are.
