Why is Isreal even in Europe ?

Jordan, Syria and Lebenon all surround Isreal and are all in the Asia Football Confederation. Eygpt is in Africa. So how the hell did Isreal get into UEFA??

Politics. A lot of Arab countries refuse to recognise the State of Israel, and therefore don't like playing their football team.

Israel has always been in the Eurovision song contest too.

It's a western country in the Middle East, doesn't really fit anywhere. Ditto Turkey.

It's not that impoprtant, it just struck me during yesterdays snorfest that it was strange England had to play Isreal to qualify for the Euro's. It does make sense though, the idea of a Isreal v Iran match in Tehran is insane.
