Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Chelsea (PL) Sun 25th Aug 24 14:00 GMT

Would be madness to do anything about Palmer at 10 and Madueke at RW so afraid Nkunku will have to get used to the bench this season. Assume Neto may replace Mudryk v Palace but other than that you have to build on this game now.
What about Caicedo, he was awful, does he start the next game?

Sanchez can certainly ping a pass.

Fofana & Colwill are building something together.

Cucurella has continued where he left off last season.

Gusto has been disappointing the last 2 games.

Caiceido had a stinker.

Enzo ran the show 2nd half.

Mudryk is nothing more than a squad player at this point.

Palmer is going to win a BalonD’or as a minimum.

Madueke is undroppable from here on out. Proper old school winger cutting in.

Jackson isn’t a footballer, put us out our misery and sign a CF or five Guiu a run out.

Neto & Felix both showed flashes of class in the minimal time they had on the pitch.

Maybe when Marescaball is flowing it is something special?

Credit where it's due at half time it looked more like a 4-4 than a 2-6 match.

Great forward play in that half, could of and should of scored even more, but that's nit picking really.

Brilliant 2nd half.

Once again Gary O'Neil showing he is a top manager. We've scored two goals by catching them cold, but he has progressively adapted his formation and tactics throughout and their team looks far more controlled and having the right level of intensity.

This will.be jnteresting to see what Maresca is made of here. We could win this but unless there is a tightening up in defence and defensive midfield we'll probably lose. With 15 spare players not even training with the squad it'll be deemed he has all of the tools available to him.
Well played Maresca. I'm not sure if we were any more controlled or whether we just blitzed them. Don't care, it was still a great watch.

Agree. But with so many games and injuries likely, they’ll be rotation and enough games for all. The key for me is maintaining a level of intensity every match, which is what teams like City do so well when rotating

Despite 3 goals our first half was poor. Just watched the after match highlights and if not for offside we cudda gone in 4-2 down at half time. May not be so lucky next time. However fabulous 2nd half. Hopefully keep up that momentum but please sort that defence out. Onwards and upwardsView attachment 18325

Great to have a match day thread with such an (overall) upbeat tone, seems to have been ages to be reading through one like this.

Scoring makes things easier doesn't it. We were horrible first half. Came on from the blocks second half and scored the chances we had and it was cruising. I really like how cool Cole and Noni are in scoring situations. That is the key to put chances away.
And Felix stroked it in as if it were training.

Should shut a few up but it probably won’t, some won’t be happy until we see pure perfection for an entire 90 minutes.

Great game of football to watch, we responded well in the second half after Wolves playing well in the first.

Question it all you want, but the quality of our bench was devastating. Bringing on fresh quality when you could see their drop off was massive

xG is a fallacy for stat nerds

I watched the game mate we demolished them between minute 38 and 65

Palmer and madueke 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Deadly combination
It's like any statistic ... an indicator and not gospel ... xG though is usually a fairly good approximator for how the game goes, so I thought it was amusing that it was so far out today. Shows the quality of the finishing I guess !

Great to get the win.

going forward we look pretty deadly. However I’m still worried defensively, so let’s see if it will tighten up over time. As we won’t always get our way going forward and there will be times when we need to be defensively assured.

On a serious note. If Caicedo and Lavia are injured, we do look a bit lightweight in midfield. Is Big Les still at the club? Otherwise it’s just Enzo and Dewsbury Hall, isn’t it?
