Man City Charges

I would say a 3 year ban playing in Europe and World Club championship.
That would harm advertising revenues and might cause some players to leave yet does not tarnish past accomplishments.
It’s hard to implement any punishment that truly fits the scale of what City’s actions have done to the entire English football pyramid. Even the sanction you suggested doesn’t come close to matching the depth of the damage.

If City are relegated, does that mean each division theyre in would also issue a points deduction for not meeting financial fair play.

This is so messy.
If they strip titles from Man City then it opens up the can of worms of relegated teams City did the double over that could prove decisive.
I don’t know what the answer is but this is a dark and momentous moment for the Premier League.

No way should City have their titles taken away, if we had finished runners up then i wouldnt want to win the PL that way, Andy Robertson stands to win a winner’s medal but has said no way should the titles be taken away, easy solution is from next season give them a 115 point deduction, they would be relegated for sure

Man cities chairman came out with a confide t statement today, and they do have exceptionally expensive lawyers.

I would not bet against them finding a way to deal with this leaving a minimal impact on them.

His exceptionally expensive lawyers that acted as if they were the f**king Avengers all those years ago only managed to dismiss 1 of the 115 charges.

They’re f**ked.

I'd argue that specific time period is moot.

Their treble and 4 in a row in recent years were because of the groundwork laid during that period.
You're right obviously. Unfortunately the time period is all that can be penalised.

And yet, we managed to beat City and won titles against them despite their financial doping. Teams wanting to strip City of their titles are just hiding their own sh*tness, if they’d been good enough on the pitch City wouldn’t have won. All this only benefits Arsenal, Utd and the scousers. The rest of us are still under the pressure of the financial rules and if one of the other teams dare to challenge, the financial rules will make them sell players, like Villa or Newcastle this season.
On the other hand I want to see Poundland Pep and Fernandez down in league 2.

Dont think its fair that the players or fans should suffer though, its the owners, a fine is no good, has to be relegation of some sort, but how far?
If its based on 9 seasons, maybe give them 90 point deduction next season, then 70 point deduction the following season, 50 point deduction the following season and so on, dont think they could return to the PL for 3 seasons

Youre right, Slippy G hoping for a winners medal

If you cut all the formal BS, it translates to "We know we are guilty, but it's the fault of people on the outside who want us punished and we will fight them in court". It has been their stance since day one of this investigation. They never tried to show anybody that those charges were false, always blamed the people on the committee (supposedly Arsenal fans) for trying to drag them down.

They won't fight those charges in court because they know they are f**ked. Instead they will go after the people that have taken the decision. Good luck proving they came to a conclusion because they support other clubs. To me it seems like such a pathetic excuse and it is why I hope they get a historic penalty.

I dont think it makes sense to wind the clock back and take away titles etc etc
The Premier League could do something positive and offer City the opportunity to pay gazillions directly to the lower league teams or face the prospect of joining them next year. They could also ban City from playing for the remainder of this year in preparation for them choosing the second option.
They are also permitted to cancel any of Citys recent incoming transfer registrations...including Fernandez & Maresca.
They could also give them a 5 year transfer ban- with immediate effect if City are unable to agree the way forward by the next window.

City get to keep their achievements, lower league teams benefit, City are hampered going forward signing wise. All matters resolved quickly.

The City situation is a slightly awkward one for Chelsea fans to comment as, for me, we got off pretty damn lightly for our dodgy agent payments so its a little rich any Chelsea fan looking for draconian punishment.

Now I do think City's breaches are worse than ours and there is the obvious additional factor that we held up our hands whereas they denied, and continue to deny, any wrong doing and obstructed the investigation. So i think they do deserve a tougher penalty than we got.

Stripping titles I am less arsed about. And I wouldn't be awarded them elsewhere. It makes a mockery of the history books and doesn't really punish the club in any meaningful way that impacts on them.

Points deduction seems the obvious. As does dropping then down a league or two. It would be reasonably consistent with punishments in other leagues. Transfer ban would also be have an impact if it was for say three windows.

Any financial punishment needs to be directed at grass roots football. Otherwise it will just disappear into meaningless coffers.

I'm not even sure they can hand out points deductions spread out over multiple seasons. I would love to know all of the little details when it comes to how punishments are placed on teams for breaking rules like this, but I don't think that information is readily available. All I know is that they can face a points deduction, transfer ban and expulsion, but I don't know if the laws are written in a way where a points deduction can be spread over multiple seasons.

At the very least, I do think that City's rule breaking is so severe that they should face a points deduction that relegates them and a multi year transfer ban on top.

Again, none of the club’s undisclosed payments broke any PSR rules during that period.

I heard a city fan saying maybe they should look into past titles won by other big clubs, i think he is correct, we all know Fergie had a big say in who couldn’t referee United, so whose to say other deals didnt take place with clubs in the past, Scott Minto said the same thing but you need the proof, who can forget Liverpool had a massive advantage with money from john moores getting out of the old second division 230 million in todays terms

I think they will get a 50 point deduction or similar which more or less guarantees relegation.
I read a couple of stories that the EFL might refuse them entry to any of the three leagues or at best they begin again in league 2.
Even if we’d finished second to them on a few occasions I’d still be against awarding the runners up the titles. Wipe City’s name from the winners by all means but I’m not having Tottenham being awarded a PL title.

There's a lot of "what about Chelsea" being floated about but there are two major differences here.

Our breaches did not, according to the regulators, give us a sporting advantage. There's not ground to bring up cheating or revisiting the titles we've won.

The person responsible for the breaches was stripped of his ownership and essentially fined £4B. I may be wrong but I believe this is the harshest punishment any club owner has ever received.
I think City fans would take a year in the Championship over having their UAE owners taken away from them.

George Graham... Arsenal ... titles galore ... they used to say it went on everywhere and his only crime was getting caught.

Looking forward to watching Enzo play in the Championship
