We are setting ourselves up for distaster. We wont play Sheva or Pizarro yet are depending on them for a vital month, the busiest month, of the season. How the hell are they supposed to get match fit?This has disaster written all over it. We could do a lot worse then Anelka at the moment, at least he is being allowed to kick a ball.

I agree, but I also see the dilemma that Avram & co are trying to work with: There is no chance in h*ll that Sheva or Pizza will start over Drogs. We could change the formation, but: it is working okay and there is always that element of risk in changing it.

This is the moment that Avram should use Sheva and Pizza; we got Derby and Rosenborg as our next opponents. Derby is a championship side(should be anyway) and Rosenborg is someone we are able to beat 8-0 in good day. I'm not underestimating them as opponents, but it could be Arse and Lpool, which will be later.

 
Is that Rosenborg who had won back to back games against an albeit not in great form valencia? Didn't someone else say we should put 6 past Schalke.

good point. I forgot to put a smiley in that post to indicate I was sarcastic/drunk(you choose).

My point on Rosenborg is from the fact that I saw them play their CL qualifying games against Finnish side TamU. They didn't show me signs they would be obstacle to us. They have been okay winning struggling Valencia, but their luck is about to change..I just hope there is no snow in Rosenborg's pitch...that has been sort of obstacle to us in recent history.

My bald prediction: derby-chelsea 0-2 (2xsheva), rosenborg-chelsea 2-3 (drogs,2xsheva)

It's not just The Sun reporting the Anelka deal, it's also being touted around in most of the broadsheets too.

£8m for proven goals? I suppose that's what we've been missing, without Drogba?

 
I honestly think Anelka is just the player we need, a proven goalscorer in the Premiership and could compliment Pizarro (in particular) very well, probably Sheva and Drogba too.

In the red formation Pizza is the target man and in the blue formation wings(swp and florent) provide the balls to sheva and anelka.

 
Looks good to me, but I think Essien warrants a place in our best starting XI:

Cech,

Belletti, Carvalho, Terry, Cole

Essien, Maka, Lampard, Cole

Pizarro, Anelka.

... but then we're missing Sheva and Ballack, argh!

 
Still very mixed on Anelka. Yes he knows all about the premiership and will be available for CL matches and he does seem to have matured a fair bit so I don't think the sulky thing is such an issue now.

But at the same time we are liked with Anelka, Man Utd are again being linked with Berbatov and I think he would be a better long term purchase. Actually, if Drogba has already made his mind up that he is not staying past this season, we should sign both now, with a view to off-loading Sheva and Pizarro at some point. Man Utd already got Tevez and I hate the idea of them having Berbatov as well - i'd rather he remained at Spuds.

If Jose was still in the job then he may have been able to handle him but I do not think that Avram could...maybe Henk could though.

Huntelaar is the man for me. In fact Huntelaar and David Villa as a front two next season would make me forget the Drog in a hurry.

I hope he's a damn sight more lively in the changing room than he is when interviewed, because if he carried his utterly dry and dull persona into the dressing room the team would be in a sh*t load of trouble.

Any way Joe Cole I think said he yelled at them recently so he has a dark side.
