Players just wore old kit and random stuff in those days, none of this designer prematch kit, sponsored by another company no one knows based in Asia or somewhere.still love that mix and match training kit.
I was at the donny rovers v cfc pre season game been from doncaster and basically following both teams on a as andOne more Pre Season Friendly to go. v Doncaster Rovers on 21st August 1984.
How times have changed re who we play in Pre Season Friendly Matches !
Agreed, every time I still any Le Coq Sportif sports clothing I automatically think of it being our kit in those seasons.still love that mix and match training kit.
Even now us of a certain age, and my boys are the same have to plan what we are wearing for the game days in advance, it's tradition, shame for the ones that were bought up in an era of just slinging on a replica shirt for the game. I'm going all retro for Leicester on Sunday. Found on line, a white Fila long sleeve padola polo, tailored shorts and gazelles, funny went to Reading away pre season the other week and had a super mac white Sergio T on, bowled in pub by station and heard one young lad say why's he dressed like Boris Becker!! I did chuckle, was gonna educate him on 80's casual fashion but couldn't be arsed, anyway Becker wore Ellesse, McEnroe Sergio, Bjorg Fila.As for that arsenal game ,all I can recall is that it was a early kick off,dam bloody hot,jam packed inside the clockend, and me arse in me mouth or vice versa as Dixon was pulling his peg back to make it 1-1 .can even recall the exact clobber that I had on ,addias samba,Lois cords ,benetton t shirt,Benetton light blue crew neck .its not that often that I can recall the exact clobber that I had on at whatever game, but for this game it has allways stuck with us.
Great mate. I'm the same.Even now us of a certain age, and my boys are the same have to plan what we are wearing for the game days in advance, it's tradition, shame for the ones that were bought up in an era of just slinging on a replica shirt for the game. Very mid 80s.Got this in Camden Stables Market in 2001. A mate picked me up to go to drive to Weston Super Mare where we stayed in a B and B the night before the Final v Arsenal same year. ( Cardiff)
Was wearing this. “ What you doing wearing Arsenal colours you ....” he said.
Hardly ever wear it now. Bit self conscious wearing a tracksuit top in my 50s

yes same here, if they are a retro classic tracksuit top, I still wear them. Even at 50.Very mid 80s.![]()
I'm in my early 50s and wear tracksuit tops all the time !
The 'Vintage Chelsea Tracksuit 80s Casuals' !yes same here, if they are a retro classic tracksuit top, I still wear them. Even at 50.
A classic tracksuitI had the Adidas Blue red and White velour tracksuit from 84 olympics
I know what you mean, I had a great collection of old Ellesse, Fila and Sergio but unless it's a decent fit a tracktop doesn't look great on a 50 plus year old. I sold most of mine a while back just kept three sergio dallas (all three shades of blue) and a capomaster (blue with white stripe and collar. Plus an old ellesse which stays at my mums for when im over in the UK. Only occasional wear these days but still love them.Got this in Camden Stables Market in 2001. Don’t wear anything with the label outside these days.I know what you mean, I had a great collection of old Ellesse, Fila and Sergio but unless it's a decent fit a tracktop doesn't look great on a 50 plus year old. I'm fortunate in that my younger son (who is in his early 20s) has the same shoe size as myself.Even now us of a certain age, and my boys are the same have to plan what we are wearing for the game days in advance, it's tradition, shame for the ones that were bought up in an era of just slinging on a replica shirt for the game. They were worth many hundreds until a certain company started encouraging Fila to make cheap replicas in every colour under the sun. I ended up selling my collection off for peanuts for that very reason. You can still tell an original from a mile off mind you ?Don’t wear anything with the label outside these days.
Some cool stuff you mentioned above. Since Fila etc starting reproducing BJ’s etc, it’s cheapened the look and taken it downmarket.
Fell in love with the BJ tracksuit top when I was on holiday in Selsey Spring 82. Saw a bloke with a green one, which are worth many hundreds now.
Couldnt afford one back then, picked one up 19 years later- was wearing it shortly after clubbing when I met my wife
