Pretty much how I saw it.Arsenal are the champions and have the best squad in the PL by far, so we certainly didn't disgrace ourselves today. If Estevao had found the top corner late on, we would have come away with a point.
But I am disappointed we didn't get at them more - especially after such a good start. This is where we miss an Essien type player - their midfield had it far too easy. We let Rice run with the ball all game and let Odegard have far too much space and he made it count and was MOTM. We really needed our front three to be on top form but None of them saw enough ball in dangerous areas and I though Pedro came too deep, too often and was fairly easily nulified by the Arsenal defence.
Gutted that Havertz scored again against us and it was a soft goal to concede but their winner was a good, well taken goal.
Hopefully we learn from this and bounce back and go on a good run.
We competed for the first half, for the second half Arsenal toyed with us.Pretty much how I saw it.
No need to be upset IMO.
I didn't expect us to win, I just wanted us to compete, and we did.
Midfield is an issue thiough, we really need 2 proper midfielders in there every single match, not defenders converted into midfielders.
Address the midfield in January and I think we'll finish in a Champions League spot, which was the aim at the start of the season.
We are quite a way behind Arsenal and in the end they were the better team.
Got to say every time we touched an arsenal player it was a free kick but not the other way round unfortunately.
Anyway, beat Hull next week and we'll be back on track.
Amen to that mate.Sick and tired of losing to that lot.
I do agree with you, but so much comes form belief and confidence, or the current lack of for us. Arsenal are supremely confident at the moment, they are riding high off of their title win, they only brought in two additional players (one of which was somewhat enforced) which have both slotted into the pattern. Always was going to be a tough ask. If we had of had Liverpool or Man City in that game today we could have given them a bloody nose, because they are also finding their feet. Beat Liverpool, beat Man City and that belief and confidence that we are on the right track would come flooding through us.Arsenal are the champions and have the best squad in the PL by far, so we certainly didn't disgrace ourselves today. No different than Raya for ours.Just saw the highlights. Martinez was p*ss poor for their first.
Why not try playing Palmer or Roger’s as the attacking midfielder behind Pedro and play Steveo up frontApparently he does not want to play wing-back and does not want to bulk up any more. I’ve heard the same from the brazilian press.
Think he can only play in place of Cole or Rogers, or sub Neto in the second half when chasing a goal.
Why can’t Palmer or Roger’s play in that Role, especially Palmer who come deep anywayI agree, but come January we must make two additions and do it early and large. We must get the box to box creative midfielder and we must get a top level CB, for depth.
Most of the goals we have conceded so far have been because of playing ghosting in behind then and them not tracking their men. There has to be some defensive discipline, even in the box to box midfielder. Why can’t Palmer or Roger’s play in that Role, especially Palmer who come deep anyway
Careful, some may take that as you asking Rogers and Palmer to actually defend properly. Most of the goals we have conceded so far have been because of playing ghosting in behind then and them not tracking their men. There has to be some defensive discipline, even in the box to box midfielder.
Not just Leeds. Yes we need to go long in the cups, especially with no Europe. We also need to beat Hull and Brentford before the break too.I do agree with you, but so much comes form belief and confidence, or the current lack of for us. We have another chance on Wednesday. Yes its only the Carabou cup but it Leeds United and recently we have so often been the southern softies, pussying out, when clubs like Leeds come after us. We need a strong performance and a significant win that breathes that confidence and belief into the team. Then we can start gaining some momentum.
Roger n Palmer are quite poor defensively from attacker povWhy can’t Palmer or Roger’s play in that Role, especially Palmer who come deep anyway
