more worringly.........

''The 27-year-old Brazil forward has been left on the bench in his club's last two matches, with coach Frank Rijkaard preferring 17-year-old Bojan Krkic up front. ''

''The one-time Manchester United target has been far from at his best this term and has even been dropped to the bench by coach Frank Rijkaard. ''

Why sign players who's best years are not necessarily ahead of them?

Dont know if there is any truth in this but what a great addition to the squad Ronny could be,

He has had a bit of a slump this season but at 27 a new challenge could bring a return to his best form, can you imagine if Frank stayed the midfield would be amazing.

Also if Frank decides to leave it could softeen the blow somewhat.

I like the thought of it although I liked the thought of Sheva, but Lightning(not refering to Shevas pace) cant strike twice,

I think a player of his ability could play in any league, might have to get rid of the ball a bit quicker but I think he'd adapt.

If we can get him for 8-10 million, then I would be very very happy with this. If it's stupd money, a la Sheva, then no thanks.

He is only 27, and has a good 4/5 years ahead of him. Even if he does lose his pace - it's not like he relies on this alone to do what he does.

In general, i would rather we spent less money finding promising yougsters who become superstars at Chels, and I think we are doing that, but there have to be a few exceptions to the rule, and if the money is right, then Ronny surely has to be one of them.

The amount of 'he's past it' press he has received I think is riduculous. Given his age (27 is not old!) and huge amounts of talent, there is absolutely no reason why he wouldn't rediscover his edge at another club and show why he was and still is one of the best in the world. Just like Frank, it seems a bit like the media decided he was having a crap 06/07 season, and then ignored all facts that proved the contrary. Yes Messi stole the plaudits last season and rightly so, but didn't Ronny still score around 20 goals? That's hardly crap is it?

Ronnie isn't playing well right now but I think that he can come back and be great again (I said the same thing about Sheva however).

He's 27 and should have a few years left. Drogba is older and probably playing the best football in his life.

On the other hand could this be the first step towards becoming the new Real Madrid? All big stars and nothing else?

Ballack, Sheva and Ronnie. I hope I'm wrong.

Well that was quick

Gutted,

never know though

Where there's smoke?
I'm kinda resided to the fact that we've got him already. So many stories of his unrest, no other club linked with him, it's just a matter of time.

If Roman wants him, he'll sign him, regardless of wages, transfer fee and whoever is supposed to mange him thinks.

From football club to Galatico central in just a few short years

yep,

how I pine for the days when we couldn't afford to sign a big name player let alone pay his wages

I just liked us being a football club, not a rich russian's plaything.

Galaticos towards the end of their career are not the way forward!!

Dead f**king right

Thing is, I agree with you, but at the same time I think we'd be stupid to miss out on Ronnie, if he's available for a reasonable price. I think the problem is that we've wasted our galactico quota (ie in my mind, the number of established star players you would accept in the team) on Ballack and Sheva, so the thought of bringing in another one does seem wrong.

However, if you took away those two players, and told me Ronnie was coming in, I'd be ecstatic, as you do sometimes need to spend a bit to get the absolute best in the business, and he is exactly that. We may find our own wonderkid given time, but we sure as hell ain't there yet.

I guess when I see Ronnie in our team, I don't see Sheva or Ballack alongside him, so although that doesn't get away from the fact that we have mistakenly invested in these two players, I don't see us as having a 1st 11 at least of big name galacticos.

Still not convinced either way to be honest, but I just know that if Ronnie is available on the cheap and he ends up at L*verpool or Man U, we will be kicking ourselves.

How did I know that you'd think it was a good idea???

You'll doubtless be surprised to learn that I think it's a terrible idea!

The last thing we need to do is go around buying other teams cast offs. If they want to sell Messi, or Iniesta then I'd be very interested. But not some fat playboy who can't be bothered.

Yeah he's fat as Frank and he probobly wears a dodgy tracksuit sometimes, thing is he's also one the most skillful players I've ever seen

if he came here for a reasonable fee which looks possible, at 27 there is no reason why he couldn't get his career back on track,

even the sight of the oldest mock up picture "I want that one" wouldn't be so funny if he signed for one of our premiership rivals.

I would welcome ROnnie with 4 arm. My two and I would borrow Chippy's for the day.

The only reservation I would have is that I am not sure if we would be better off signing him in the summer rather than January. The reason I say this is because his form has dipped (although this is still very much relative) and he is rumoured to be a little over weight.

If he comes in January he will, rather unfairly, be expected to deliver from the second he cleans his teeth on the morning of his debut (and I mean by some Chelsea fans as well as the media). It is unlikely he will be able to turn round what, by his standards, has been an average season so far instantly. We may be better bringing him in at the end of the season to give him time to get back in tip top shape under Ten Cate's watchful eye and to settle in with the squad and in London.
