Chelsea agree deal for Ronaldinho

He would fit in just fine in our 4-3-3 on the left hand side with Joe moving over to the right hand side. The two side men in that system don't need to be orthodox wingers anyway.

I am personnaly wondering how well would Ronaldinho fit in Grant's system.
Grant has a system???

forget the "galactico" tags and other such things for a minute- do you really care what others think? I don't- f*ck 'em.

consider whether ronaldinho in the place of kalou / malouda / swp would improve the side.

Cant get the image of the little fat sod running around the clubs till five in the morning snorting coke but maybe he is a tad or two in front of the players mentioned

I wouldn't give a toss what people thought if he performed to anywhere near his ability and would love to see it.

But he's past it, doncha see. And Barca don't want him anymore. Why should we be picking up their rejects? They're hanging on to Lilian Thuram. We should make them sell him to us.

Well to be fair, their "reject" Belletti has been quite good for us.

Yeah, like Arsenal made Chelsea sell Gallas to them.

I hope we don't buy him, get the "next" Ronaldinho instead of the current one and save some money.

He would cause more problems within the team dynamic than he would solve in my view.

The problem is that there's so many "next Ronaldinhos" Will be expensive to buy them all

Don't know if this has been said anywhere else, but if we were to go the Galactico route, I would detest it. But, with Ronnie he is still young enough. Why not pay him a base salary with bonuses, so he has to perform? I doubt he would go with it, but it is just a though!

Looks like no one believes Ronnie is coming to Chelsea, but still this topic is already 4 pages long...He's an interesting player for sure.

Last night I watched Barca-Deportivo. Ronnie returned to the line-up and you couldn't see that smile on his face. Only when he kicked home the penalty he communicated with the crowd. He tried, as usual, to work the crowd but in my opinion he didn't get the response he hoped for.

There is so much attacking power in Barca that Ronnie seemed to left second or even third(behind Messi and Iniesta). Maybe he is just in a slump or Barca's other players don't consider him the best anymore.

He is still great, but if we are going to pay big bucks on someone I would choose Kaká over Ronnie.

The thing in Dwayne Dibbley's favour is he's still only 27 or 28. And in the summer he's leaving Barca, come what may. No smoke without fire in this case, I suspect.

If we signed him I'd be happy because we're getting the 'world class playmaker' we so badly need, but in my heart of hearts I think he'd be better suited to playing in Italy than in England. As his time on the ball here would be so much less. And would he really be up for a League Cup match on a cold December night op'north? Not so sure he would.

But, with all the racism and violence in Italy, combined with England being the best league in the world, he might just want to come here and prove his doubters wrong. And he'd certainly fit the RA bill of providing 'entertainment'.

However, after the Sheva fiasco (and yes, it has been a fiasco, let's be honest here) a big part of me now thinks that we should sign 'the next Ronnie' rather than the old one. To quote some of the posters above.

honestly, if we were to buy him we would be paying enormous wages for him. We already are paying way too much for sheva, and I think Ronnie would be a sheva-esque signing. Unreal wages, and way over the top expectations; would he be able to live up to all the hype surrounding him?

It also all depends on what our system will be next season. Right now we are playing a style and team left for us by Jose....who says we will continue this way next season? Something in me tells me that we may switch for a 4-4-2 next season, and thus use more players like Cole, Sweepy, VDV, Malouda will be used.

Ronnie may just head back to play in Brazil

I dont think he is coming here, at least I hope he isnt, but I disagree. I think Ronaldinho is the type of player with a work ethic strong enough to jump start himself elsewhere. Milan would do well to strike while the iron is hot, considering their domestic campaign has been beyond a joke and they need some kind of injection of talent. If memory serves, they have long fiended after Ronnie and lodged serious offers in the past. Or maybe that was Puyol

Save that transfer money, and go after Rafael Van der Vaart. Younger player from another physical league. Most importantly, he is what the team needs.

Can van der Vaart hack it (mentally) in a world class squad where he isn't automatic first choice?

Surely that should be the challenge that drives all great players on!

He manages pretty well in the Dutch squad.

The Dutch midfield is mouthwatering...to say the least. i have always been a big fan of Wes Sneider. I recall him tearing some team aprt a few years back...great fun.

Hopefully he's grown sure enough of himself to take on this challenge, because no disrespect (ok maybe a teeny bit) but there were clubs much bigger than HSV who wanted to sign him and he chose to go there.
