Chelsea players you've met

Steve Clarke and Graham Rix were drinking in the Fox and Pheasant after a game against Newcastle a few years back (late 90's I think it was)

One of my Uncle's was a bit merry from the brew and was chewing Clarke's ear off about the game and where it had gone wrong (late equaliser from Newcastle if I remember rightly), Clarke humoured him though and was a gent about it.

Dennis Wise was at a School Feat near where I grew up (Swanley) in 1999, signed a whole ton of autographs and joined in with the games etc.

Sean Wright Phillips, before he signed for Chelsea, came into the JD Sports I worked in when I was at college, I think he had some endorsement going with them or something, anyway he helped himself to about 12 large bags worth of clothing when he was there.

Franco Zola came into the House of Fraser I was working in a couple of years ago, true gent as expected.

Met RDM in about 2002, went on the tour of the Bridge and he was coming out of the NE corner just as we were leaving (what was then) the Chelsea World of Sport. My dad who stewards at the Bridge though was very lucky, after the Spurs match this year he met and got a picture with Mata, Luiz and Hazard.

Ian Hutchinson in that porto- cabin of a club shop many years ago. I remember that I purchased that giant Chelsea medallion that was on sale in the late 70's.

johny bumpstead i see him and talk every saturday in the metrogas club in new eltham hes happy to talk about chelsea to any cfc fan
You must know paul Johnson (johnno/batesy) who drinks in there with Rooney etc ?

I met quite a few back when I used to attend all the Christmas and Player of the year dinners, I had my son in hysterics the other day when I showed him some old photos and there was one of me with RDM who had a full head of hair, he couldn't believe it!

Kevin Mccallister used to spend a lot of time in the Playboy bookies opposite the ground. We used to chat to him a bit but he was a quiet lad.

My finest hour was getting drunk with Peter Osgood and Graham Paddon at Norwich, the

day I worked the 'Chelsea End' taking bets for the 'Magic Sign' in the old part of the

ground when it was a bumbag and old technology!

Bryn Gunn invited me into the after match hospitality, there was an ex Chelsea

player who turned out for Norwich there also but the vodka and orange consumed that

evening clouded my memory.

I was talking the 60's and 70's with Ossie for about 2 hours, Best, Summerbee and

Slack Alice's, the Doc, Sexton, Hutch and Chaz, brilliant stuff.

Vinnie Jones on two occasions, once when I was on a '125' train, we were coming home from an away

game up North and the 'Crazy Gang' were on the train from Newcastle to Kings Cross. He bought

the whole train a beer.

The other, when my dog 'Request Granted' finished third to his 'Smoking Barells' in the Racing Post

Marathon Final at Walthamstow dogs.

Thanks for reviving this thread I must have missed it the other times posted. I have been lucky enough to meet loads. (Many ex players were in Munich and Moscow on the gatwick flights)

I knew Jody Morris personally and here to tell you what happened to him was a tragedy he is and was a really good and totally miss-represneted man (wish he had been with Chelsea under someone like Jose) , but I have been beaten down on this forum so many times from people who dont know him from Adam trying to tell me what a twat he is. I dont know him anymore as I hav enot seen him in many years.

I used to go to Harlington so met most of the team of the mid 90's/Early 2000's vintage, Zola (who is still my all time favorite player) used to recognise me which was a thrill of a life.

Other stand outs.

for Val; I once met Cudicini at Heathrow, we were both buying presents for our girl friends and he was were having a 3 way conversation with the shop assistant which was a laugh, really nice bloke. It was then that he told me that he thought his future was outside football as he wanted to focus on his pilots license (he wasnt wrong about his futre outside football as he went to the Spuds about a year later)

also another great memory, Chelsea played in a pre-season friendly against Wokingham town I think it must have been early 90's I was living there at the time so went along and I had a drink in the bar afterwards with Dennis Wise, Graham Stuart, Soxy, Andy Townsend, Vinny Jones... probably a few more I cant recall (oh Ken Bates was there too, vinny kept joking "get your wallet out Ken"). You would imagine them to be ladish but there were not they were all really down to earth friendly people, chatted to them for ages. (all non football, it was great). During the match I think we went 8-0 up and Vinny had a bet on that scoreline so started defending for Wokingham Town... woudlnt get away with that in this day and age.

I think Jody is quite open about regretting leaving Chelsea.

I read an interview he gave recently where he said he was looking for what he considered equal pay to other players who were getting similar playing time to what he was but the club said no.

I have wondered before how different his career might have been if he has stayed at Chelsea.

I had a conversation with Natey Chalobah last summer when he was playing in Estonia during the U-19 European Championships and I was part of the backroom staff so meeting him and having a talk was pretty nice. Also exchanged a couple of words with Paul Pogba, Ross Barkley, Benik Afobe and Nathan Redmond. Just to think that most of them now play in the top leagues of Europe is quite amazing.

Chelsea/ex-chelsea

Willian at a Jay-Z concert. David Luiz somewhere in London.

Saw Shaun-Wright Phillips at a club

edit: not sure if meant to post in this thread or the other!

I've lost count of the players I've meet from Osgood to lampard I've meet loads

Fairly sure I spotted Frank Sinclair in a Leicester Tesco Express yesterday!

saw him at the blue orchid in Croydon.....followed him into the toilets as well......that`s the normal thing to do right?

A couple I had a chat with Ossie in one of the pubs outside the bridge years ago on my first trip to the bridge, and also met Shevchenko at a pro am golf event at wentworth a few years back.

At my first ever chelsea game I said hello to celestine babayaro as I was milling around the main gates before the game, he hobbled past on crutches. Oh and last season I literally bumped into Harry Redknapp outside the megastore, think it was the schalke game. I was very apologetic as I'm a fair deal bigger (wider) than him.
