Chelsea v Liverpool (PL) Tue 4th Apr 2023 20:00 GMT

I've never been so bored as a Chelsea fan. I think the stat is that we haven't scored so few goals after this number of games for over 90 years.

At least the off field drama is quite good at the moment.
99 years according to the radio

This is true but in reality I struggle to recollect a poorer Liverpool performance against us and ,yet we contrived to turn this into a competitive battling point! It is so bl00dy frustrating to come up against the elite clubs historically, at a point in time when they are sh*t and we fail to take advantage. Visits from Man Utd, shocking Gooners, Spurs and now this and we contrive to get bu88er all out of the league games and gifted two FA cups and a league cup. These types of games wind me up even more that the sh8t performances where we get rolled by a better team on the day.
Agree that Liverpool were very poor tonight.  So frustrating that we can’t put the chances  away. And we had enough clear cut chances to be out of sight in the first half alone.

A good striker can be the difference that wins you titles but at the same time you need to be able to rely on the rest of your attacking players to still present a threat.

What good will be getting a striker be if every team can put two men on him for 90 minutes to take him out of the game because no one else is a threat?
I am not sure if I agree with this. The game is full of tipping points and fine margins. A striker that bullies the opposition gains an extra yardage and allows others to play. Confidence breeds confidence. Just using Drogba as a general example, is ideal to show that regardless of scoring goals, he could lay the ground work and space for others to play due to his presence. I also think that Giroud was very underrated for doing this.

Agreed. Having a threat through the centre puts defences on edge. That creates space and time for other supporting creative players as they worry about a Drogba, a Costa, a RVN, a Haaland, an Aguero, a Shearer, a Robert Fleck.

When you have Havertz through the centre the defence is more worried about missing reruns of Only Fools and Horses on UK Gold

I love Drogba and there wasn't a striker in their prime I'd rather have to cup games but he definitely had more than a few league games where he didn't show up and had little impact. The difference is that we had players like Lampard who you could be sure would have scored at least one if he'd been presented with the chances we had today.

Yes, Fleck indeed.

If we have the english Beckenbauer at the back in W Fofana, we also have the german Sutton up top, who couldn't find his ar$ehole with a mirror.

But when he didn't score by God he defended corners, he occupied centre halves, he held the ball up and brought other players in to the game.

Where The f**k Is Fofana, Subbed Off At Half Time Against I Can't Bloody Remember As We've Had sh*t Game After sh*t Game, Nothing From Havertz As Striker For God Knows How Many Games Now Just Give Him A Few Chances Like Havertz Has Gotten

That's a very appropriate comparison you brought in there, because i thought of Lampard tonight when Havertz nicked the ball from Allison, on the byeline and then gave a wimpish hospital pass of a layoff, and my mind drifted to a Lampard byeline twist and turn, clipping the ball into the top corner against Barcelona no less, but i guess there is the differnce. If you don't even have the picture in your head, people can call you all the generational talents they want but in reality you are just bang average like all the rest.

Is he meant to ask not to play or ask to be subbed ?
Yes, if he had any integrity he’d feign injury and limp off. He can then head back to the changing rooms and read Donkey Monthly.

Confidence, motivation whatever it is, he is clearly not in a great place, maybe the weight of expectation on him is too much, no excuses but you don’t become pony overnight and in general I would say most of us were quite happy with him to a certain point. Let’s be clear, he is not a number 9.
Apart from a handful of isolated games, he’s never done much since we signed him. So he hasn’t become pony overnight because he’s never really been above that. I certainly agree, he’s no number 9.

On train home now. Weirdest game I have attended for years, it was like no one wanted to be there. Both sets of fans and players

That has to be one of the worst Liverpool performances I have seen at the Bridge. The closest the came to troubling our rubbish keeper was Fofanas header.

Was the most relax I can remember being watching us play Liverpool, and they are my most disliked club.

Every time we got in position to have a shot I did not flinch a muscle, as all bar the offside James shot fell to players who are poor in front of goal. Felix, Kovacic, Havertz, never in a month of Sundays are they putting those chances in. Now had they fallen to James or Chilwell I would have believed, otherwise you knew what was coming.

If you can step back a little our finishing is comedy gold. Even when we thought we had scored I was thinking wait a minute, wait for the offside or something else, low and behold that pi$$ poor first attempt was not rewarded.

I know many like to call Kai a donkey, but for me he is more of that old tale of the blind squirrel. Every now and again he finds a nut, but in general he has no hope.

As long as this Bruno bloke persists with the False 9 tactic well be lucky to make top 10 now and bye bye a massive CL semi

Lets recall when once the club had one of the best wide men in Europe, EH scored for fun, put the current plethora of attacking mids to shame by miles and miles

but when he was tasked with leading the line on a few occasions it did not bear fruit, so what makes any manager/ 1st team coach think that the Donkey loving Donkey is gonna do any better ? Just because City & Dippers profited from it it does not mean its suited to every squad.

Play Fofana or Auba up top in the remaining EPL games,  it cant be any worse than this prick teasing football we all are currently suffering ?

And as for Bruno continuing until the end of the season then why bother sacking GP ?? We are being led down the garden path by utter incompetency at the Board level.

Ah Mod, you and your man crush lol.
No man crush here, this ain't no Munkworth and Giroud!

I just think he's streets ahead of what Mendy ended up being, while not being remotely close to Cech and dare I say, that other guy!

Kepa didn't get enough credit for keeping us in games during a poor run and the goals he was slaughtered for, were mostly down to our backline being more open than a pornstar's under-crackers!

Agreed. Unless the board is planning to bring in a new manager quickly, or a different interim, I don't really see why they bothered getting rid of Potter. We are not going to see anything drastically different just by switching to one of his assistants.

I think a big part of the whole situation with Fofana/Auba is a direct result of leaving them out of the Champs League squad. While we are in the Champions League I doubt you will see many players feature in league games if they are not in the CL squad. In addition of course Fofana has supposedly been injured and Auba seems to be entirely frozen from the squad. What a mess. At this point I'd rather we give an academy player like Mason Burstow a chance than persist with Havertz.

Lol fair enough, though neither of them are good enough at the top level for me.

Like you said not remotely close to the 3 Cs, the other one being Cudicini. Speakong of pornstars not as good as Ed De Goey imo either, as a Goalkeeper I mean you would need to ask @Valerieif he "measures up" otherwise  😉

But running 15 yards with the ball at feet, in a straight line directly at the goalkeeper and then dinking it straight at him surely is cack.
Yeah... we are where we are, the boy gave everything, just a bit unlucky it bounced back and hit his hand before going in....

The Kovacic miss was woeful... I mean these guys are pros aren't they... sort of thing you expect to see in the Pub League... after lunch ... 😁
