England : Southgate out!

Assuming that Graham Potter is now off the table to replace Southgate before, or likely after, the world cup, and also assuming the need to stick with an English manager, then a good shout would be the current Canada manager John Herdman, who has done wonders with both the women's and now men's sides.

 
Normally you wouldn't mind, but it was against a rubbish Italian side who have failed to qualify for the World Cup. And on tonight's performance you can clearly see why. It was two mediocre teams, playing mediocre football, with mediocre managers. And yet Italy always looked like the side who would win it.

 
Just felt like watching Chelsea but in white!

Add to that we already have the poor mans Gareth Southgate!

Cause Southgate is a poor man's Avram Grant imo....

This mean England chance of winning the WC is very high. We went to 2 cup final and should have been in cl semi last year

I thought they played like we did too.

I'm more concerned about the FA coming for Potter, now he is here want to see what he can do.

I didn't watch the game but I am still surprised people overanalzye friendly game. Nation leagues or whatever it is called is irrelevant.

Going from Euros runners up (losing to Italy) to dropping to the B group (losing to Italy) of a competition nobody understands anyway. Consistency!

As you say the Nations League is viewed as a pretty meaningless competition by most. Really a desperate ploy by UEFA to replace some of the friendlies, but a competition too many. That being said England's form has been woeful for a while now, and it is hard to imagine them suddenly looking good in the World Cup. I reckon it will be like the last time we were in a group with USA where we barely scraped out of the group stage and lost comfortably in the last 16.

 
Familiar theme since 1966 isn't it ?

It's a succession of useless managers that have prevented England from winning trophies.( really) ?

We haven't even reached a WC final since and one losing Euro final .  Even with group stages that almost guaranteed easy passages.

But I thought we had started to play decent football for once  only to see an ultra cautious approach game over.

mind you, if big Sam hadn't been such  a gullible oaf  he could be leading us to glory !

Actually there was a Canadia. League game on telly in the pub a while back.

Think one team was " Pacific " ? Can't remember the other team, but what a game relentless attacking from both teams, aggressive and hardly any play  acting .

And then we have to watch the exact opposite !
