Hodgson "joke" row

BUT didn't the FA say that ANY racist remark - regardless of the context is an offence.

On that basis, Roy should be disciplined the way JT was.
REALLY???

Shall we throw his wife and kids in the local lake aswell for good measure?

Seriously im ashamed to live in an age where its publicly acceptable for people grassing each other up or encouraging the powers that be to reprimand at will. Take the bull by the horns people, oh hold up surely Bull will be perceived to be detrimental to some race some where.

neither was 'golliwog' till someone made it so, it was just a doll and a cartoon figure on a pot of jam and I doubt today's generation would even know what a 'golliwog' looks like.  The entire world has gone mad and so far 'left' of centre you dare not open your mouth before you analyze every word in your thoughts and think, 'I am going to upset anyone, make anyone cry, angry or have them misinterpret what I am actually trying to say, apologise first then actually say it'; maybe sign language should make a comeback...or did I just offend those unfortunate people who are unable to speak
I think everything in the world should now be just called "nnnn", this makes sure nothing can be discriminated against. So, instead of saying "oh look, a cute little monkey" when you at the Zoo, you should say " oh look, a nnnn little nnnn" when your at the nnnn.

Is there a white lawyers association?
Perish the thought that our Judicial system also get accused of being blatantly racist by being as blase to make an association for lawyer of white skin only. Can you imagine the anger at this years Music of Black Origin awards.

You said the N word. Go and stand in the corner. Is corner discriminate?

Its white but not a good white its a bad white. There natural balance has been restored.

While stuff like this happens there will never be full equality between white people and black people, how can things be equal if when a black person is mentioned in the same sentence as a monkey people just to the conclusion there's racial implications?

That's what happens when the far left think to deeply and want to make something out of nothing; there are white monkeys, so is the colour of the monkey the issue or something else?

Clearly it is a ridiculous situation and im only playing devils advocate.

But the FA stated quite clearly ANY racist remark regardless of the context is an offense. Clearly the joke isnt racist but some idiots have been offended by it.

To be honest, the FA annoy me so so I'm just trying to get back at them!

The biggest problem with this is that it was something Woy said to his team in the confines of the dressing room, so who leaked it to the press?  I'm not suggesting someone came out and told the waiting press; "guess what racist roy just said...", but I'm a big fan of What's said in the dressing room stays in the dressing room.

Saying Monkey in a sentence is not automatically racist, or do we now have to take a good look around to make sure there are no black people in the vicinity before uttering the word, no matter what the context?

And the official statement from Peter Herbert (very apt second name) is in:-

"Race for Sport seeks to highlight the fundamental human right of those in football not to be subject to degrading or humiliating treatment. We are therefore compelled to challenge hate crime and racism in the United Kingdom and abroad.

"It is therefore right that we urge you to act upon the recent comments made by the England manager Roy Hodgson to players Andros Townsend and Chris Smalling. Your investigation should therefore not just be limited to the players in the dressing room at the material time but what offence it caused outside to our communities.

"To announce that the matter is "closed" without any action being taken against the England manager is unacceptable and wholly inconsistent with your policies on equality and diversity.

"For Mr Hodgson or anyone else to make an apology if they fail to understand why the words used were offensive or potentially so is not the response of an institution with the resources and profile of the FA.

"The willingness of those in football to close ranks and pretend that this was of little or no consequence is reflective of a failure to understand the damage that this type of comment causes whatever the so called "context".

"A proper investigation independent of those in the FA is now required to identify what actually occurred.

"RFS urges the FA to implement a mandatory 'race appreciation' training and 'cultural capital and cultural intelligence' training for Roy Hodgson and all managers in the Premier League, Championship.

"We respectfully request that you provide us with a formal response specific complaint within 14 days and further that you supply a copy of your policy and procedures for dealing with such complaints of racism to this compliant. We look forward to hearing from you."
Jesus, this kind of sh*t makes a mockery of real racism, its pathetic.

I bet whoever said it is booking a holiday for next summer as he wont be going to Brazil.

Jesus Wept.

What exactly do they expect, Hodgson used an anecdote to help him to convey instructions to his players. Big whoop.

"To announce that the matter is "closed" without any action being taken against the England manager is unacceptable"

I don't know who this person is to tell the FA or Roy Hodgson what is or isn't acceptable within the England dressing room and frankly he should do us all a favour and just f**k off.

I thought it was supposed to have been a player who leaked it, if that's true then maybe it was a disgruntled squad player looking to cause a bit of trouble for the manager, and the tabloids love nothing more then to propagate the false idea that racism is still rife in football.

It's telling that absolutely nobody apart from the likes of "Race for Sport" (who are clearly acting in self-interest to increase their public profile) can see straight away that it was a harmless comment with no racial connotations whatsoever.

I'm very much in the "who the f**k are these guys anyway and why should I care what they say?" camp.

That's the knob who I heard on TalkSport. What a loathsome individual - just out to make a name for himself and full of his own smug self-importance. And he looks just as he sounds.....

HODGSON REACTION

A letter of complaint from a pressure group is sent to the Football Association demanding that England boss Roy Hodgson attend a 'race appreciation' training course after details of a joke he told about a monkey in space were made public.

Peter Herbert, the head of the Society of Black Lawyers and who also runs the new Race For Sport organisation, has sent a four-page letter of complaint to the FA, saying it was wrong to declare the matter closed.

Hodgson, who apologised if any offence was caused, has expressed his frustration and anger that his side's achievement in reaching the World Cup earlier this week has been overshadowed by the details of the joke he told in the dressing room at half-time against Poland.

The FA was quick to give Hodgson its full backing over the joke about a monkey in space, which it is believed he used to illustrate why his players should give the ball to winger Andros Townsend.
This really is becoming a joke. What do they want Hodgson to do? Resign? The real problem is that I am starting to feel that this is only going to damage racial equality. You only need to read forums, twitter and comments on news sites to discover that that the majority opinion is that this is all a fuss out of nothing.

I love how he suggests having training on the subject. No doubt they'll be the first in line to submit their quote to provide it.

Feel sorry Roy being caught up in this but its the FA's fault for tying themselves up in daft policies and procedures.

You have failed to understand their policies and procedures.

When they say it is an offence to utter a racist remark regardless of context, that does not apply to saying the word monkey, when you are referring to a monkey. Monkey has a meaning that racist remarks such as ni**er etc do not. Let me help you out here ..

God I hope so.
